Former NFL star Antonio Brown is reportedly wanted on a charge of attempted murder with a firearm. The charge is related to a boxing event in Miami on May 16, 2025.

According to a report in CBS News, the warrant, which has been received by The Washington Post, indicated that the police are seeking to arrest Brown; it also instructed him to post $10,000 bond and stay under house arrest until a trial. A judge reportedly signed the warrant on June 11, 2025.

During the Miami boxing event, gunshots were fired, following which Brown was detained by the police after he allegedly got involved in an altercation with several people. He was later released. The event was hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross.

Videos from the incident circulated on social media, which showed his involvement in the fight. Gunshots were heard near the end of the video. A report in the CBS News stated that surveillance footage showed Brown punching a man, taking a gun from a security officer and firing as he chased the individual.

What did Antonio Brown say about the May 16 incident?

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown addressed the incident that took place on May 16, 2025, outside the Miami boxing event through a social media post, shortly after the altercation.

He took to his X account on May 17, 2025 and wrote:

“Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”
“I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process. Thank you for the support and love #AB#84”

According to the alleged victim, he informed the police authorities that he had been shot twice by the former NFL player, which grazed his neck. He said that he had known him since 2022. The accuser was later treated at a hospital.

Antonio Brown has a long history of arrests, civil suits and erratic behavior. His career ended in 2022 after an incident which occurred during a game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets, per The New York Times.

Since 2018, Brown has reportedly been sued four times. He reportedly paid $1.2 million to a truck driver after allegedly assaulting him in 2020. He was allegedly charged with domestic violence, although the charges were later dropped. In 2023, he faced warrants for reportedly failing to pay child support and was briefly arrested or detained on those matters.
