More than a year after their onstage altercation, rock band Jane's Addiction’s frontman, Perry Farrell, has apologized to his bandmate Dave Navarro for the second time. The incident happened during one of their Boston concerts in September 2024.On Wednesday (December 17), Farrell, 66, took to his Instagram and wrote in a lengthy post:“To everyone in Boston, and around the world. I'd like to address what happened on stage last year. I've reflected on it and know I didn't handle myself the way I should have. I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”The singer-songwriter continued:“Jane’s Addition has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the patrons, and the impact that we've had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever possibly write down. My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show, something real, honest, and positive.”As it happened last fall, the band was performing their hit song Ocean Days when Perry Farrell ran across the stage toward guitarist Dave Navarro, 58, and punched him. Subsequently, their bandmates and backstage crew tried to de-escalate the situation. In his latest apology, Perry Farrell shared that he and his band “fell short” of delivering their best to their fans in Boston last year, for which he is “truly sorry.” He concluded his statement by thanking everyone for their continued “love and support.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIn the wake of Perry's apology, Jane's Addiction announced that they have "come together" to "resolve our differences" to honor their group's legacy.Exploring further the feud between Perry Farrell and Dave NavarroPerry Farrell formed Jane’s Addiction in Los Angeles in 1985 with bassist Eric Avery. Soon, they were joined by Stephen Perkins on drums and Dave Navarro on guitar.Last year in September, the band was doing a show in concert when Farrell began screaming at Navarro during the song, Mountain Song. When Dave didn’t react, Perry charged at him during their next song. The viral incident triggered the lights to be dimmed before Perry Farrell was escorted off-stage. Later, the other three resumed what was left of the show.Following the concert, Dave Navarro shared a statement on social media cancelling the rest of their ongoing tour.“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer, Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety, as well as our own, has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the statement read.Navarro added:“We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken. Dave, Eric and Stephen.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostA few days later, Perry Farrell issued his first apology, calling the moment “incredibly difficult.”“After having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday's show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation,” Farrell wrote back then on social media.Meanwhile, Perry’s wife, Etty Lau, defended her husband on Instagram. She revealed that Farrell was suffering from “tinnitus and a sore throat” during the show and felt that his “voice was drowned out” by the “stage volume” which had been “extremely loud.”She also claimed that there was “tension and animosity” between the bandmates, despite the “magic” that kept them active and “dynamic” over the years.Reportedly, Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro had been beefing for a long time, since the band’s inception. The former especially has issues with the latter, frequently leaving and returning to Jane’s Addiction.Meanwhile, TMZ reported in July 2025 that the band was suing Farrell for $10 million due to last year’s incident. They have sought damages for emotional distress, negligence, and breach of contract on Perry’s part. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostPerry Farrell’s legal counsel told Daily Mail at the time that the lawsuit was a “clear example” of the rest of the members “uniting to isolate and bully” his client.“The timing of this baseless lawsuit is no coincidence — it was filed only after they caught wind of legal action coming from our side. It is a transparent attempt to control the narrative and present themselves as the so-called ‘good guys’ - a move that's both typical and predictable,” the attorney stated. The lawyer also defended Farrell, claiming that the past statement about Perry’s mental state was “defamatory and entirely unfounded,” adding that the tour cancellation was done “without his input.” The statement also mentioned that the civil suit was their “desperate effort” to save face and get ahead of the truth.Dave Navarro told Guitar Player in May that there was “no chance” for Jane’s Addiction to “play together again” and last year’s altercation might have been the final nail in the coffin for the band’s career. However, now, following Farrell's recent statement, Jane's Addiction apologized for unilaterally deciding to cancel last year's tour and making "inaccurate" remarks about Perry's mental state, which they claim to "regret.""We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors. Jane's Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together," the Instagram post reads. They gave a shoutout to their fans, calling them "our lifeblood" and extended their appreciation for their loyalty.
