The multi-talented star has reportedly won his first Best Lead Actor Award at the 2025 Tony Awards. Darren Criss was awarded the Best Lead Actor Award at the 2025 Tony Awards. According to People, the actor and songwriter honoured his wife and described her as the "real hero." He noted that she took a "massive swing on allowing" him to take on the musical's journey. He added,
"To allow this crazy upheaval in our life, to make this logistically possible, and for bearing the brunt of raising two tiny friends under three, so that I could raise a singing robot at the Belasco Theatre eight times a week."
He honored her by calling her the "pedestal" of his life and noted,
"Your love and your support for me and our beautiful children, combined with the miracle of working on something as magical as Maybe Happy Ending, has been and will always be award enough."
Outside the show, the actor was congratulated by Bonnie Milligan. Darren Criss noted that he does these things because they are "beautiful" and noted that winning the award was not part of the "itinerary." He recited a lyric from his musical, and said:
"The trip might not turned out as I planned, but a trip should not end like it began."
Darren Criss made his Broadway debut in 2012 with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and has since worked in multiple shows, including Hedwig and The Angry Inch (2015), a revival of Little Shop of Horrors (2024), and many more!
