The allegations against Fred Savage have resurfaced during an episode of the Pod Meets World podcast.

During the podcast, actors Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong rewatched an episode from Season 6 of Boy Meets World, which aired in 1998. While they shared their thoughts on the episode, they chose not to discuss the serious allegations that were leveled against Fred Savage during that time out of respect for Ben Savage.

Fred featured as the older brother of Ben Savage in a guest role, who made inappropriate sexual advances toward Fishel's character, Topanga, in the episode.

The news has brought attention to Fred’s co-star, Jason Hervey, who, in 1993, along with Fred, was accused of sexual harassment by a former costume designer on the show, Monique Long, according to the LA Times. Jason Hervey has transitioned into a producer and creator in the entertainment industry. He is currently based in Los Angeles.

Exploring the allegations against The Wonder Years’ actors Fred Savage and Jason Hervey

Fred Savage and Jason Hervey, who appeared as co-stars on the 1988 TV series The Wonder Years, have faced allegations of sexual harassment dating back to the early 1990s.

The first allegation came in 1993 when Monique Long, a former costume designer for the show, filed a lawsuit claiming that Fred, who was 16, and Hervey, who was 18 at that time, verbally and sexually harassed her daily, according to a report in the LA Times.

Savage dismissed the allegations with his lawyer stating that the woman was a “disgruntled employee” and said the action was a “nuisance suit” aimed to destroy Fred Savage’s reputation. Long was fired after she allegedly complained about her workplace harassment. The case was eventually settled in 1994.

This didn’t end here. In 2018, Youngjoo Hwang, who worked in the wardrobe department on the set of Fox’s The Grinder, sued Fred Savage and 20th Century Fox.

She claimed that Savage was aggressive, intimidating, and constantly hurled profanities at female employees.

According to the BBC, she also described an incident when Savage:

“violently struck Ms. Hwang’s arm three times with his hand” after the show’s director asked her to brush dandruff off the shoulders of Savage’s suit.
She added that Fox “essentially admonished” her to “keep her mouth shut and not report the harassment and ultimate physical assault perpetrated upon her or she would 'never work in the industry again'.”

However, Savage was reportedly cleared of all charges following an investigation by Fox, which found no evidence to support her claims. In a statement to US Weekly, Savage said:

“These accusations are completely without merit and absolutely untrue. After concluding a thorough investigation, Fox determined that there was absolutely no evidence to support these accusations. None of her claims could be substantiated because they did not happen.”

He concluded by adding that throughout his time in the entertainment industry, he has treated everyone “respectfully and professionally.”
