Her post implies that transphobes are bigger babies as they are more childish and prone to react. Many Reddit users commented that the post is hurled at Rowling who is widely criticized for making statements against transgender people. One comment on the platform read:

“Where's the lie? Jk transphobe crybaby Rowling belongs at the top of that list.”

This is not the first time Gladstone has expressed her thoughts against Rowling. Let us understand her views in detail.

What did Lily Gladstone say about J.K. Rowling in a Rolling Stone interview?

Lily Gladstone expressed disappointment with J.K. Rowling in a 2024 Rolling Stone interview, particularly regarding Rowling's views on transgender issues. She noted that although as a child she connected with the Harry Potter series as she saw parallels between the representation of muggles and other bloodlines but now she is disappointed. She said:

“Even though I’m horribly disappointed by J.K. Rowling now, when Harry Potter was out there were a lot of people who felt the conversation about bloodlines and Muggles was a conversation about Native bloodlines. We find ways to connect.”

Previously, in an interview with People magazine, Lily Gladstone clarified that she uses both she/they pronouns but does not identify as a non-binary. The actress who is of Blackfeet and Nez Perce heritage explained “my pronoun use is partly a way of decolonizing gender for myself.”

She discussed when she was nine years old many of her cousins were misgendered as they wore their hair long. She said:

“It happens to a lot of kids, I think, especially Native boys leaving a community where long hair is celebrated [and then] just kind of getting teased for it. So I remember back then being like, everybody should just be they. And in most Native languages, most Indigenous languages, Blackfeet included, there are no gendered pronouns. There is no he/she, there's only they.”

She added how gender in her community is often implied through names rather than pronouns and is not binary. For instance – her grandfather’s Blackfeet name was “Iron Woman.”

She further said that adding her pronoun is a way of

“embracing that when I'm in a group of ladies, I know that I'm a little bit different. When I'm in a group of men, I don't feel like a man. I don't feel [masculine] at all. I feel probably more feminine when I'm around other men.”

Lily Gladstone was recently seen in The Wedding Banquet which is a remake of Ang Lee’s 1993 comedy, directed by Andrew Ahn. It was released on April 18, 2025.
