American singer, songwriter, musician, and dancer Scott Hoying is expecting his first child with husband Mark Manio, via surrogacy. The couple announced it on the October 14 episode of Dancing With the Stars while marking Celebration Night, according to E! Online.

Manio, who is a former social media specialist at Amazon Studios, is also an author, band manager, model, online personality, and social media influencer. He was previously a marketing professional.

Mark shared the news with Hoying’s dance partner, Rylee Arnold, in a pre-show clip.

“We have one more piece of news for you: We’re having a baby. Our surrogate is pregnant! We’ve dreamed of this our whole lives. Scott’s gonna be the best dad in the whole world,” Mark stated.

Meanwhile, Scott Hoying added:

“We are gonna be dads... We are really, really lucky.”

The Pentatonix member agreed that it was “crazy to say out loud,” and admitted that he was “excited to start a family” with his husband of two and a half years.

Scott Hoying began dating Mark Manio in 2017 after meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles. They got engaged during a Bahamas trip in April 2022. The following year, in July, the couple exchanged wedding vows in an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, officiated by singer, songwriter, and close friend Christina Perri.

According to Famous Birthdays, Manio was born in April 1991 in Seattle, Washington, into a Filipino immigrant family. He is a model managed by the NTA Model Management. The 34-year-old is also an Instagram star, content creator, and influencer, known for his fashion and lifestyle-based content.

Mark Manio graduated from the University of Washington in 2013 and now lives in Los Angeles, as per his LinkedIn. He worked at the Santa Monica office of Amazon Studios as a social media expert between November 2016 and April 2018.

Before that, Scott Hoying’s husband worked as a marketing strategist at VIZIO and a communities specialist for the Global Social Media department at HTC.

During his college years, Mark Manio interned in the Marketing and Operations division of UW Marketing and was a PR and promotions coordinator for the UW Ethnic Cultural Center.

In 2020, Manio co-wrote the Pentatonix single, Thank You. He also penned several children’s books with Hoying, including How Lucky Am I and Fa La La Family, according to US Magazine. The pair also jointly released a holiday album this season called M.Y. F.A.M.I.L.Y.

Mark is currently a fixture in the ballroom on the 34th season of Dancing with the Stars, where his husband is a contestant. He also manages the girl group, Citizen Queen, according to his bio on the Macmillan Publishers website.

Scott Hoying and Mark Manio revealed finding a surrogate in June 2025

Scott Hoying and Mark Manio spoke with PEOPLE at the Kids’ Choice Award on June 21, 2025, and revealed they were closer to becoming parents and finally found a surrogate with whom they were “becoming friends.”

"We're getting closer. We finally have a surrogate, so we're closer. And we're becoming friends. But then there's all sorts of stuff that has to happen before the surrogate. But next summer, we'll have a baby for sure," Manio said at the time.

Scott Hoying added, "We used an agency. And we wanted to have our surrogate in L.A., because we want to go to every single appointment. And so the wait list was a lot longer for L.A. But it was worth it. We found something. She's amazing."

Previously, following their 2023 nuptials, Hoying told the outlet that all of their “life experiences and choices” along with “ups and downs” had led them to each other, and called Manio his “dream man.”

Back then, the Dancing with the Stars contestant also shared that they spoke about “starting a big ol’ family” every day.

Scott Hoying and Mark Manio (who has now taken his husband’s surname) also revealed that they were becoming parents via a joint Instagram post on Tuesday.

It was captioned, “We’re having a baby,” and was accompanied by a clip where the duo was seen hugging, kissing, and crying after reading a positive pregnancy test.
