Actor, comedian, and rapper Daniel Curtis Lee is currently coming to the rescue of his former co-star Tylor Chase, who is experiencing homelessness in California. The duo previously shared screen on the Nickelodeon teen live-action sitcom Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide between 2004 and 2007.

Over the weekend, Lee, 34, went viral after he posted a TikTok video of his visit to Chase, 36, on a sidewalk and accompanying him to a pizza restaurant for a meal, before getting him a hotel room, and trying to find a permanent solution for his friend and ex-co-actor.

Daniel Curtis Lee has been a television and film actor ever since Ned’s Declassified ended. His pivotal role was as Kornelius “Kojo” Jonesworth in the sitcom Zeke and Luther between 2009 and 2012, followed by recurring roles in Good Luck Charlie and Glee. Lee also found himself a rap career and released his debut album Double Lit Double It in 2020.

Meanwhile, Tylor Chase appeared in a few cameos on projects like Everybody Hates Chris and Good Time Max, before landing the role of a voice artist on the 2011 video game L.A. Noire. However, he has since shared his deteriorating mental health journey.

In fact, in September of this year, he was first found homeless in Riverside, California, the videos of which began trending on TikTok. At the time, Daniel Curtis Lee and two of their former co-stars, Devon Werkheiser and Lindsey Shaw, offered their help to Tylor Chase during one of their joint podcast episodes.

For Devon Werkheiser, who played the titular role of Ned Bigby on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, life after the show has been a smooth ride. Immediately after, he was cast in the 2007 Nickelodeon movie Shredderman Rules as the protagonist Nolan Byrd.

Since then, he has acquired frequent and recurring acting roles in the ABC drama Greek and other TV projects such as Criminal Minds, Major Crimes, Franklin & Bash, and 2 Broke Girls.

The now-34-year-old Atlanta native is also an alternative rock/ pop musician. His hit singles include Superhero, The Darkness & the Need, and Stand Up. As the two-time recipient of the Young Artist Award, Devon has also released the studio album Prologue in 2016 and four extended plays.

Actress Lindsey Shaw, who played Jennifer “Moze” Mosley on Ned’s Declassified, found herself playing the female lead on the 2009 ABC comedy series 10 Things I Hate About You and the 2007 CW sitcom Aliens in America.

Later, between 2011 and 2017, Shaw, 36, played Paige McCullers on Pretty Little Liars. Over the years, the Lincoln, Nebraska native also appeared in Faking It, Body of Proof, and Suburgatory.

Christian Serratos, aka Suzie Crabgrass on Ned’s Declassified, has also had a successful career. She appeared as Rosita Espinosa on the AMC series The Walking Dead, followed by Angela Webber on The Twilight Saga.

Kyle Swann, aka Billy Loomer from the Nickelodeon show, got himself a degree in marine biology. However, the now-35-year-old Californian continued acting on Big Fat Liar, Darkroom and Maniacal while continuing with his Ned’s Declassified stint. In 2009, she appeared in the TV short, Wonderchild.

Other supporting child cast members from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide include Teo Olivares, Alex Black, Carlie Casey, Rachel Sibner, Daran Norris, Austin Butler, and others.

Briefly exploring Daniel Curtis Lee’s account of Tylor Chase’s homelessness

On December 23, Daniel Curtis Lee took to Instagram and shared that he was looking for a “rehab or recovery facility willing to accept Tylor Chase on scholarship.”

“I’m also looking for guidance from a financial advisor on setting up a trust where funds are released only after successful completion of a program. We want to do this the right way—safe, structured, and supportive. Sending love to all the Ned’s fans who’ve reached out with kindness and support for him. It truly means a lot,” his caption read.

He also extended his gratitude to the fans and community for reaching out to him about Tylor and mentioned he “just got off a call with him.” However, staying in touch with Chase was “hard” as he didn’t consistently have a phone on him.

In a follow-up video, Daniel Curtis Lee shared that his friend and former colleague was “well fed and safe from the rain” as well as “secured” in a hotel, stating they were a step closer to a “long-term” solution.

Sharing that Tylor Chase wants to livestream video games, Lee explained that the latter was able to FaceTime his father, while their other co-stars were trying to get him into rehab.

“A lot of you guys are concerned about Tylor Chase this holiday season, and I just wanted to give you an update. Shaun Weiss and his team put a lot of effort into trying to get him into a hospital last night, and I thought it worked. His dad told me it worked, but it turns out he kind of backed out,” Daniel claimed.

He added that Chase refused to get into a car or admit himself to a hospital. However, for now, he had “basic accommodation” and wished to “stay local.” Inside the room, Tylor Chase was seen hugging and thanking Daniel Curtis Lee.

“Give me a hug, man. Love you, brother. Love you, man. So happy to see you, dude. You're the man, brother, and I believe in you, and we're gonna win, bro. All we got to do is stay with it and keep working, dude,” Lee was heard saying.

It is noteworthy that actor-comedian Shaun Weiss took to his Instagram on Monday and shared in a video message that there was a “bed” ready for him at a “detox” where Tylor Chase could get the long-term treatment he needs.

However, Weiss, 47, who has previously fought homelessness and addiction himself, noted that Chase’s current location was unknown to him. The Mighty Ducks alum also urged fans to help him find Tylor and convince him to get the help he needs.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe that was raising funds for Tylor Chase has been shut down after his mother announced that her son needed medical help more than money.

In a December 22 interview with TMZ, Devon Werkheiser called Chase a “sensitive, sweet, and kind kid,” adding that it was “heartbreaking” to see him in his current state.

“I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years since the show ended. Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it’s an unbelievably challenging situation if they don't want help. It's an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support and patience and time,” Devon noted.

He also hoped that his former castmate got “exposure… real understanding and resources” to overcome the crisis and “get back on track.” Werkheiser concluded by wishing a “happy ending” for Tylor Chase.

Tylor Chase played Martin Qwerly on the three seasons of Ned’s Declassified until its finale in July 2007.
