Actor Patrick Murray died on October 2 at the age of 68. Before gaining main roles on the big screen, Murray did many short roles, starting with the TV series Centre Play, released in 1973.

The announcement was made on Only Fools and Horses News's X (formerly Twitter) account with the statement:

"Patrick Murray It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray - Mickey Pearce to so many He was a regular attendee of our conventions and we will miss his humour and the joy he bought to many Sleep Well Pat!"

Murray, born in Greenwich, England, was married to Anong Murray. The couple tied the knot in 2016.

Murray was also scheduled to appear on the upcoming TV series Conditions, which is under post-production. The official release date is yet to be confirmed.

A look back at Patrick Murray's career

Before appearing in Only Fools and Horses, Patrick Murray took on many roles, including Scum (1979) with Ray Winstone and Quadrophenia alongside Sting and Toyah Willcox. In 1973, he did The Terracotta House, which gained him recognition. Some of his best works include Scum, Vikingdom, Only Fools and Horses, and Haunters of the Deep.

Speaking to The Sun Newspaper about Only Fools and Horses, he said in a statement:

"It would be lovely to do another one but I do worry we would be constrained because we can’t take the mickey out of each other. Rodney was a plonker, but nowadays people would find calling each other ‘plonkers’ offensive. The woke thing has got a bit ridiculous."

In another statement, he stated:

"I don’t think the BBC even like to show the Del Boy falling through the bar scene now, despite it being voted the best sitcom moment ever, as it depicts two men on the pull. If Fools and Horses is out of order, we’re in trouble. But I would definitely be up for it if everyone else was on board and we are allowed to be funny."

Murray did most of his projects during the years 1980-2000, starting with Breaking Glass and Curse of the Pink Panther. His talent got him a role in the TV series Florence Nightingale, The Management, and Screen Two.

He reportedly last appeared in a short titled The Profession Of Violence.
