Rapper Pooh Shiesty was reportedly released early from prison on October 6, 2025.

Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Donell Williams Jr., served only three years of a five-year sentence, according to the reports. The Memphis rapper is best known for his song, Back in Blood, released in 2021. The track also features Lil Durk.

A report in the Commercial Appeal indicated that Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months in prison in 2022 after he pleaded guilty to a federal firearms conspiracy charge, linked to violent and drug-trafficking crimes. It was related to a 2020 shooting incident at a Florida hotel. During that time, the rapper was 22.

Reports suggest that he has been residing in a halfway house following his release, where he has been reintroduced to society. Despite him being in prison, his fanbase continued to discuss him on social media. They are eager to see his return to the hip-hop industry.

Born on November 8, 1999, in Memphis, Tennessee, Pooh Shiesty is known for his energetic style and authentic street-style lyrics.

His father was also a rapper under the name Mob Boss and the founder of Mob Ties Records. Shiesty grew up in Cane Creek Apartments in South Memphis. The streets of Memphis helped Pooh Shiesty transform his music career. As he grew up, Shiesty started engaging with the local artists and attending community events.

During his teenage years, he used social media to share his musical talent as he began writing and recording songs. Pooh Shiesty’s foray into the industry started in 2018. His breakthrough came with the release of his single, Shiesty Summer in 2019. His other single, Back in Blood reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In June 2021, while speaking to XXL magazine, the rapper, 21 at that time, said that he is family-oriented. He shared about his high school, and told the outlet –

“[I was] always suspended. In Memphis, you could go home because you ain’t have the right clothes on. You’ll get sent home for the day. They gon’ send you home off your shoes. When I went to [an] alternative school, you couldn’t wear black or white shoes. I go in with some Js, they sending me home.”

When Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to five years in prison, during that time, defense lawyer Bradford Cohen told Rolling Stone in reference to the rapper

“Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listed to our argument and the judge received the argument well. He was satisfied with the outcome. We’re happy with the decision of the court.”

Shiesty pleaded guilty to a single count of firearms conspiracy in January. His attorney argued that his client wasn’t the one who fired the weapon in a Florida drug deal outside the Landon Hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, on October 9, 2020.
