Jake Kasdan's Christmas film Red One brings the perfect blend of action, adventure, comedy and fantasy to the big screen. The movie is currently playing in theatres - so if you want to venture on the two-hour quest to the North Pole, here is your best opportunity!

This Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans starrer has garnered quite some attention from the audience owing to the mythological exploration, action-packed sequences and moments of comic relief. Red One is more like a story that involves family and relationships, hidden beneath all the thrilling adventures.

The plot unravels with the abduction of Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) just on the day when North Pole Head of Security, Callum (Dwayne Johnson) decides to retire after the holidays. So, he takes help from Zoe Harlow (Lucy Liu), and a bounty hunter, Jack O'Malley and embarks on a dangerous journey to rescue Santa from the winter witch, Gryla (Kiernan Shipka).

In the most intense showdown between Gryla on one side and Jack, Callum, Santa and his brother Krampus on the other, we see Santa calling out to his reindeer to stop Gryla. He uses a unique phrase which supposedly was meant to instruct the animal to save them.

What does Santa yell at his Reindeer in Red One?

The ancient troll and the winter witch Gryla is an evil shapeshifter. She has several sons, who also can take any form they want - something that allowed them to infiltrate the North Pole very easily.

As her nature goes, she wants to imprison all those whose names are on the Naughty List (an extension of Santa's tradition of the Nice List) - Jack and his son, Dylan were part of this list. However, it is later revealed that Jack was hired by Gryla through a broker Ted, who when confronted confirms that he works for the winter witch.

Krampus was the one who originally created the Naughty List but had nothing to do with Santa's abduction. Gryla's evil intentions prompted her to try and get hold of an ancient artifact called the glaskafig, a snow globe with magical powers that traps anyone who touches it. She even uses it to trap Jack and his son.

In a showdown between the good and the evil, Zoe helps Jack and Callum join them to stop Gryla. Even Krampus does his part in the fight, but it becomes very difficult to stop the witch in her giant troll avatar.

The climax reaches its peak as we see an unconscious Santa regaining his senses and power. He then calls out to his reindeer saying 'Kavalame"' which supposedly means 'Gallop to me' or something similar. Finally, the reindeer attacks Gryla and she falls into the magical snow globe and gets trapped forever.

Does the Red One ending leave space for a sequel?

Even though Gryla is defeated by Callum and his team, her immeasurable powers can easily allow her to break the magical snow globe and escape. Moreover, she has numerous sons with shapeshifting abilities who can also come to her help.

So, Red One's ending leaves space for a sequel. We can expect to see Jack and Callum returning for more missions on behalf of the Mythological Oversight and Restoration Authority (MORA), maybe this time in another setting.
