The 'Listening age' feature is the latest addition to Spotify Wrapped, an annual personalized playlist that shows each user of the streaming service their listening habits for the entire year. This year, the 'Listening age' feature compares a user's musical taste with that of peers in the same age group. In a press release, Spotify elaborated on the 'Listening age' feature:"This story compares your musical tastes to others’ in your age group, looking at the release years of the tracks you listen to most. Age is just a number. So don’t take this personally."The feature has sent many users on the internet into a frenzy, with some pointing out the inaccuracies in the listening age, while a few also claimed that they did not get the listening age part of Wrapped 2025 at all:"Spotify Wrapped this year being like ah yes you love some of the best performers of our current zeitgeist but you listened one or two days to favorite oldies so your listening age is SIXTY SEVEN." one netizen stated."Every year there’s a total flop element of Spotify wrapped. Last year it was where they gave you a random college town and said you listen to the same music as people who live there. This year it’s your listening age, where so far it seems like everyone is in their 70s." another netizen stated."Spotify wrapped has a clear engagement bait hook every year (beyond the usual) and this year it is everyone’s “listening age”. Whatever the formula is it’s absolute nonsense on purpose." one commenter opined."did anyone else just not get a listening age at all on spotify wrapped ??." one user asked."my spotify wrapped isn't too interesting but MY LISTENING AGE IS 73?!" another user exclaimed.Singer Gracie Abrams also revealed her listening age to the public, which is 16.Spotify Wrapped 2025 has several other new featuresThe music streaming service has been doing Wrapped since 2016, ten years after it was founded in 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.
