Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, Shiloh, is making the headlines. At the new show for Isabel Marant's one-time line with Net-A-Porter in Los Angeles, the 19-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made a quiet but clear mark by picking a new name. Shiloh was named the choreographer of a new dance presented there. But not by her full name, she used the short and cool name 'Shi Joli.'

What caught a lot of attention was the name she used: Shi Jolie. This new name gives a nod to her mom's well-known last name while being a shortcut of her own.

The dance moves were choreographed by Tako Suzuki and Keoni Rose, with a live song from Luella titled 'Naïve.' This was a big step for Shiloh, showing she is set to make her own mark and develop her own style in the arts. Variety reported that this event on May 29 was the first time she publicly used the name 'Shi.', showing how she was changing and making a new name for herself in dance and on stage.

When was Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter born?

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt has always been in the public eye. Yet, away from all the flash, she is just the kid of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. She was born on May 27, 2006, in Swakopmund, Namibia. Right from birth, the whole world watched her, being the firstborn child of two big stars from Hollywood.

Shiloh has older siblings, Maddox and Zahara, and soon Pax came, then the twins, Knox and Vivienne, making them one of the most well-known families in today's show world. Even though her birth was big news around the world and her name is well-known in the world of stars, Shiloh's life has shown a mix of people's want to know more and her parents' wish to give her a life that's as usual as can be.

Called lovingly 'Shi,' she has not just grown up in the news; being the kid of two big stars has put her in the spotlight and made it tough for her to find and build her own self, with all eyes on her everywhere.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got close in 2005 when they met on Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Their love on screen led to real love, and many people talked about it. About ten years later, in 2014, they got married in a small ceremony at their home, Château Miraval, in the south of France. But the marriage did not last long. Jolie asked for a split two years later in 2016.

During their time as a couple, they raised six kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. Even after they split up, both stayed in their kids' lives and worked on how to parent them together, even with everyone watching them.

Shiloh Jolie makes her own path as her siblings do the same

Shiloh chose a new name just one year after she made a small yet deep change in who she is: she put in papers to drop "Pitt" from her last name right after she turned 18 in May 2024. This quiet move was a big step in showing she was her own person, an act to make her own way, away from the fame of her family.

Shiloh's new full name, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, got the okay from a judge three months later, in August 2024. But Shi isn't by herself on this trip of finding out who she is. Out of the six kids of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, some have made big changes in their own lives or work, each finding their own way.

Maddox, Zahara, and Pax have all made moves that show they are their own people, from school work to job steps. The latest time that got some of the Jolie-Pitt kids and film world people together was a quiet night event, a dinner at sunset held at Schindler's well-known Oliver House in Silver Lake.

People like Milla Jovovich, Rachel Bilson, Alison Brie, and January Jones came to the small meet-up, showing a blend of old film world style and new-age family ways.

Meanwhile, Shiloh continues to be seen in Los Angeles, often heading to her beloved dance classes, quietly building a life and name that reflects who she is becoming, on her own terms.

On her own, Shiloh Jolie made news by taking a big legal step away from her dad, Brad Pitt, while her mom, Angelina Jolie, was not part of it. From what people say, she got her own lawyer and paid the fees by herself, showing she made the choice all on her own, not from her parents' push.

Her lawyer, Peter Levine, said in a big talk that her move to drop "Pitt" from her last name was from a very personal and hard time, one that made her act to change her name. This move isn't just her own among the Jolie-Pitt kids.

Back in 2023, Zahara, now 20, told all at her Spelman College group party that she was just Zahara Marley Jolie, cutting out her dad's last name. Just like her, Maddox, the oldest of the kids, has only been using "Jolie" when it's not for official papers for a while now.

He even thought about making it his full, legal name, but Angelina hasn't said yes to that. Shiloh, born in 2006 and once the first bold, natural kid of the big former movie star pair, seems to be dealing with this family split in her own way. People close to Pitt shared that the choice hit hard, with one person saying how the actor felt deeply hurt, remembering the big joy he felt when Shiloh was born.

Although Pitt and Jolie's divorce was finalized in December 2024 after nearly a decade of legal contention, the emotional fallout clearly lingers. Pitt, now 61, acknowledged the end of the legal battle in a May interview with GQ, but stopped short of calling it a relief, describing it instead as a procedural closure, not an emotional one.

Angelina Jolie reflects on daughter Vivienne's deep connection to theater and her children's desire for privacy

Last year, Angelina Jolie let us see how her kid Vivienne loves the stage more and more. In a talk with Deadline, she said that while Vivienne likes to watch plays, some touch her heart more. One play, The Outsiders, changed how Vivienne sees things, a big shift.

Angelina said that working on this play moved Vivienne a lot. It changed how she thinks and feels as she grows up, and gave her a deep way to show her feelings.

Angelina talked with joy about how the team worked hard to make the story real. She said that Vivienne was always into it during the making of the film. Even with this deep work in art, Jolie said again that her kids like to keep out of the big show. When she was on Good Morning America, she said that her children don't want to work in front of a camera, showing they like to keep things to themselves.

Also, she said Shiloh is very shy. Thinking about the hard parts of growing up known by all, Angelina hopes that her kids will find a way to have a calm, hidden life, a wish she thinks they never truly got from the start.

Shiloh's new name is a big move to set up her own self, away from her well-known mom and dad. It shows she wants her own space and way to show who she is, proving that even kids born famous want to shape who they are by themselves.
