Arik Marshall, former guitarist for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to avoid eviction and possible homelessness. It aimed to raise $20,000 to support Marshall.
According to his GoFundMe page, the musician has been facing several financial hardships after losing his employer, who worked with him on both musical and cinematic endeavors for about 14 years, to the LAPD.

The campaign, which was organized by Gisette Hidalgo, noted that Arik Marshall, who left Red Hot Chilli Peppers in 1993, was deeply affected by the loss, which deprived him of his primary source of income. Hidalgo added:
“During this difficult time, which was already impacted by the Covid pandemic leaving most musicians struggling to get by financially, Arik was also diagnosed with a serious health condition which left him with a weakened immune system.”

Why did Arik Marshall leave Red Hot Chilli Peppers?
Arik Marshall left the Red Hot Chilli Peppers mainly due to creative differences. In an interview shared on the band’s official YouTube channel, frontman Anthony Kiedis said of Marshall:
“The chemistry wasn’t what we ere looking for.”
Marshall played with the band from 1992 to 1993. After his departure, he was replaced by Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction. The Sun reported that before becoming a part of the Chillis, Marshall played with LA bands such as Marshall Law, Trulio Disgracias and Afejirk.
He later served as a singer, Macy Gracy’s guitarist. In an interview with Guitar World magazine, Marshall said:
“My first show with the Peppers was in front of 60,000 people in Belgium. It was at a huge festival with Bryan Adams, Lou Reed and Smashing Pumpkins."
He added:
"I think it went well. Surprisingly, I wasn’t that nervous. I think it would have been a lot stranger if the Chili Peppers weren’t so cool and down-to-earth and easy to work with. They really helped me feel comfortable.”
Now, Arik Marshall has fallen on hard times. He has started a fundraising event to avoid eviction and possible homelessness. The campaign organized by organized by Gisette Hidalgo aims to raise $20K to help him clear his debts to the landlord.
After losing his employer and best friend, Marshall was diagnosed with a serious condition, which triggered a period of depression, and he fell deeper into debt, his GoFundMe page describes.
The page stated that the musician is focusing on improving his health and is actively seeking steady work. It added:
“He is consistently looking for steady work and he is also available for guitar lessons. We hope this reaches Arik’s peers who have worked with him in the music industry, anyone with a platform that can make a difference by simply sharing this and anyone who can contribute from the heart.”
Arik Marshall’s campaign has so far raised over $4,600 since the creation of the page in June. The organizer concluded with a message that stated that a fundraiser show will be organized on October 22 this year at Kahuna Tiki Tu in Los Angeles, California, from 7 pm to 9 pm to support his campaign.
