Bob Odenkirk's Hutch Mansell is heading to your home soon, as Nobody 2 receives a digital release date. The film will be available to rent or purchase on VOD (video-on-demand) platforms, starting September 2.

The action thriller offered a sequel to the blood-soaked saga that began with the 2021 film, Nobody. It centered around a mercenary who resorts to a quiet family life, only to get pulled back to his violent roots after an attempted burglary at his house. The film introduced this character, whose story sounded quite similar to John Wick's.

Yet, despite being a curtain-raiser to Odenkirk's battered character, Nobody became a surprise hit for Universal Pictures, earning over $57.5 million. It was a success for the studio, considering its theatrical release in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Four years later, Odenkirk returned to play this role that turned him into an action star.

Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto, was theatrically released on August 15, 2025, and a few weeks later, it will be released on digital platforms for VOD rentals or purchases.

Let's unpack more details about the digital release of Nobody 2.

Russian film director Ilya Naishuller, who's widely known for his work on Hardcore Henry (2015), directed the 2021 action thriller that featured Bob Odenkirk as a fierce assassin who gets into bare-knuckle fights with anyone and everyone he meets. It was a sharp pivot for Odenkirk, who was known for his comedic work on Mr. Show and dramatic work on Better Call Saul.

Still, the actor took the persona of this character, drawn from an archetype of former mercenaries returning to the fray after something compels them to. His character, Hutch Mansell, was introduced as a family man who stays away from any kind of violence and preaches the same values to his kids. Yet, a burglary drives him back to his violent life.

Nobody 2 followed him, trying to pay the price for his reckless actions as he burnt down the estate of a Russian mob boss. It showed him wanting a break from the violence and hoping to reconnect with his family. That's why he headed to an amusement park with them, only to be confronted with the violence he can't seem to escape.

Nobody 2 is set to release digitally on September 2, 2025.
