Are you waiting for How to Train Your Dragon to come to your home soon? Then, we have got big news for you!
Universal Pictures revealed that the live-action film will be released very soon in the form of a digital release. And it is just at our doorstep, since it releases digitally tomorrow on 15th July 2025.
The film, which is helmed by the OG director of its animated film franchise, Dean DeBlois, brings the film in the form of flesh and blood. Set in the Viking era, the film explores a poignant and radical interspecies friendship between a human and a dragon that challenges age-old traditions.
Its official synopsis goes as follows:
"On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society."

How to Train Your Dragon will be available in its digital form, real soon!
The company handling the distribution of the film, Universal Pictures, has revealed that How to Train Your Dragon will now be released digitally. It is gracing our homes tomorrow, on 15 July 2025.
The digital film version can be bought as well as rented. If you wish to buy it on Amazon, you can pre-order the film in multiple versions at the same price. It charges up to $29.99 for its SD, HD, and UHD versions.
Besides its digital release tomorrow, How to Train Your Dragon will also be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD on 12th August 2025.
The film's debut was at CinemaCon on 2nd April 2025. It was followed by its worldwide theatrical release last month, on 13th June 2025. Built on a budget of $150 million, as reported by Deadline, the film has garnered a global collection of an enormous $560,773,200.
Upon its release, the live-action film received praise from audiences and critics alike. It has landed with an impressive score of 8.1/10 on IMDb and a rating of 77%. Discussing the audience's reception, the popcorn meter rating comes up to 97% and its CinemaScore gives a brilliant score of 'A.'
The film stars Mason Thames, Gerard Butler, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, and many others. Gerard Butler is the OG alum of the franchise, as he had previously voiced the character of Stoick the Vast in its animated films. However, in the live-action, we witness Butler embodying the character in its complete physical form.
