The Adventures of Cliff Booth is a forthcoming film and a sequel to 2019's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Unlike the first film, the sequel is not directed by Quentin Tarantino. The first one was released on August 14, 2019, on Sony Pictures Releasing.
Here is the official synopsis:
"As Hollywood's Golden Age is winding down during the summer of 1969, television actor Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth endeavor to achieve lasting success in Hollywood while meeting several colorful characters along the way."
Recently, actor Brad Pitt revealed that the sequel's shooting will kick start next month, in July.
Brad Pitt reveals about the filming of The Adventures of Cliff Booth
The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt will be reprising his role as stuntman Cliff Booth in the sequel. Recently, the actor spoke to Deadline and revealed details about the shooting. He said that the script was written by Tarantino, which was acquired by Netflix.
"Well, this is something Quentin wrote. It’s an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon A Time and he didn’t want to direct it at this point. And my friend, our friend, I say our mutual friend David Fincher stepped in to direct it. So we are doing that for Netflix. We are gonna start in July. Should be really fun. Yeah, should be good fun."
Pitt has made it clear that The Adventures of Cliff Booth is more like an episode and not a direct sequel to the 2019 film. Earlier reports also suggested that Booth's character will not be a stuntman, and he will be portrayed as a fixer at a Hollywood studio. Reportedly, the film might also be called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth. Besides Pitt, there have been reports that Leonardo DiCaprio will also reprise his role as Rick Dalton. Other cast members that have been announced so far are: Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was written and directed by Tarantino, who also produced it with David Heyman and Shannon McIntosh. It revolved around an actor and his stuntman who are struggling to navigate an industry going through changes. The ending of the film also reimagines the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders. Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, and Margaret Qualley also starred in the film.
Meanwhile, Tarantino was supposed to direct his tenth and final film called The Movie Critic. However, for some reason, that project has been shelved. Pitt has frequently collaborated with Fincher on films like Seven, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The sequel is an interesting case as it marks a high-profile director helming a film that was previously directed by another high-profile director. The film, unlike the first one, will go directly to streaming and not have a theatrical release.
