Andrea Yates, the woman infamous for drowning all five of her children in the bathtub years ago, is living at a state mental hospital. Yates committed the crime in 2001, almost 25 years ago, while she was going through severe postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis, and schizophrenia. According to the court, she is declared not guilty by reason of insanity.Andrea Yates has been living at the Kerrville State Hospital in Texas since 2007, after she was declared not guilty. The most surprising part is that Andrea waives her right to a hearing every single year since she has been admitted to the mental health facility. More than two decades later, the former lawyer still advocates for his old client. George and Andrea met in 2001, after the mother drowned her five children: Noah, John, Paul, Luke, and Mary. They were between the ages of 7 years and six months old, Noah being the oldest.At the time of meeting her, George said that the psychiatrist told him:"She has a bald spot on top of her head... She's trying to scratch the 666 off the top of her head."Parham also had this to say about Andrea's case and condition at the time:"This case is almost a watershed for mental illness in criminal justice system... I never asked her... I always got what I wanted to get out of the testimony of the witnesses."Parham was also asked if Andrea Yates was involved in a cult, which led her to unalive her five children, but he explained that she was deeply delusional. In his words:"She was so delusional… did not want them to grow up in a sinful world. And that's why she did what she did."After all these years, George still keeps in contact with Andrea and visits her at the mental health facility from time to time. He shared:"She likes Cracker Barrel, so I go get lunch at Cracker Barrel and we'll sit on the back and have lunch... I get flowers for the kids' graves... I think from an emotional standpoint, it's a carryover from my days in the seminary."During an interview with TODAY, George revealed:"I see her once maybe every two months. I talked to her last week. She has a cell phone, and we visit... You know, she's so happy when I go to Galveston, and I go out to the cemetery and get some flowers for the kids. I'll tell her what I've done, and she's delighted that someone is out there ... that someone is out there taking care of the kids' graves."Andrea Yates has been living in the Kerrville State Hospital in Texas for the last 19 years.
