Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor’s son, Christopher Wilding, has praised Taylor Swift in response to the country artist naming a track after his mother on her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. This comes after Swift recently unveiled her album’s track list.
Wilding, who is currently 70 years old, told TMZ in an interview that Swift is a “rare, positive role model for young girls” and said he has “always admired her philanthropy and her courage to stand up for what she believes.”
He further noted how Swift and his mother shared similar qualities. He expressed confidence that Taylor and Swift would have gotten along if they’d ever met. Although he hasn’t listened to the album yet, he hopes it brings some attention to his mom’s legacy for younger generations.
Christopher works in the entertainment industry as a sound editor. He is also a photographer and retired in 2016, as per InStyle magazine. His elder brother is Michael Jr., who worked as a sculptor and was also an actor. He reportedly worked in the original Dallas TV show and the soap opera Guiding Light. Taylor’s other child, Liza Todd, is also a sculptor. Unlike some of her siblings, her fourth child, Maria Burton, remained out of the spotlight.
Here is everything to know about Elizabeth Taylor’s four children
Elizabeth Taylor had four children from separate marriages: Michael Wilding Jr., Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria McKeown.
Her eldest child, Wilding Jr., was born on January 6, 1953, in Santa Monica, California, following her marriage to her first husband, British actor Michael Wilding, in 1952, as per a report in InStyle magazine.
He is both a sculptor and an actor, known for his appearances in shows like Guiding Light and Dallas, and in films like Deadly Illusion.
He welcomed two children, daughters Laela Wilding and Naomi Wilding, with his first wife in the 1970s. He became a father to his son Tarquin Wilding in 1989, whom he shares with his second wife, actress Brooke Palance.
In an interview with People magazine, Laela Wilding remembers her late grandmother, Elizabeth Taylor, and said:
“Her heart was huge. She had such a huge impact with her activism and she was so full of life and love. She made a big impact on us.”
Elizabeth Taylor spent most of her time with Michael’s kids. They are also involved with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which was established in 1991 by the late actress to support people living with HIV.
His younger brother, Christopher, was born on February 27, 1955. He also followed in his mother’s footsteps and made a career in the film industry as a photographer and sound editor. Like his elder brother, he was also married twice. His first marriage was with Aileen Getty in 1981. They welcomed two sons, Caleb and Andrew. His second marriage was with Margaret Carlton, who gave birth to their son, Lowell, in 1992.
Elizabeth Taylor remained married to Michael Wilding till 1957. After her divorce, she fell in love with Mike Todd, who was a producer in Hollywood, as per InStyle magazine. They married in February 1957 and became parents to their daughter, Liza, on August 6, 1957. A year after their wedding, Todd died in a plane crash.
Liza Todd reportedly grew up on her mother’s movie sets. She attended Hornsey College of Art in London and the Art Institute in Los Angeles. She went on to become a sculptor like her half-brother, Michael.
Taylor adopted her fourth child, Maria, in 1964 after her marriage to Richard Burton. Maria was born on January 8, 1961, in Munich, Germany. Her career is not known as she largely remained out of the spotlight. She married Daniel Steve Carson, who worked as a talent agent, in 1981. She got married for the second time to Thomas McKeown.
