A new sequel to Disney’s family comedy is coming, and it’s going to be freakier. Freakier Friday will see Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return to the franchise alongside Chad Michael Murray, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and more. It is set to be released on August 8, 2025.
Nisha Ganatra is directing the film. Before this, she has directed movies including Chutney Popcorn (1999), Fast Food High (2003), Cake (2005), Late Night (2019), and The High Note (2020). She has also directed a range of TV episodes of shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2016), Future Man (2017), Welcome to Chippendales (2022), and more.
Freakier Friday is shot in California, though not many details are available about the film’s shooting. It began on June 24, 2024, and was completed on August 21, 2024. We might learn more about the locations after the film drops, but for now, just one has been confirmed.
Where exactly was Freakier Friday was filmed?

Freakier Friday was filmed in Los Angeles, California. The 2003 movie was shot there too, including places like Pacific Palisades, Palisades Charter High School, and more. It’s the same place where wildfires wreaked havoc on people recently. The 1995 movie in the franchise was also shot in the same US state. Pasadena was primarily used for its filming.
Popular movies that were shot in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is one of the major regions in the United States, which naturally makes it a prime location for filmmakers. Over the years, hundreds, if not thousands, of movies have been shot in this region other than Freakier Friday. We will see some of them here.
Both the Anchorman films featured Los Angeles in their stories. Though the Will Ferrell-led franchise may not have made it among national award-winning movies, it certainly will have you dead laughing. Paul Rudd’s Brian Fantana is one character you aren’t forgetting that easily.
The Conjuring universe’s sub-series, Annabelle, also features Los Angeles in its movies. Based on true events, the films follow the titular doll that brings chaos into people’s lives. We don’t know if there will be a fourth movie, but it seems like she's still around.
Among top-tier picks, there’s Cast Away (2000), one of the best Tom Hanks movies, which featured Los Angeles. FedEx, the company for which Hanks’ Chuck Noland works, allowed the film’s crew to use a few of its facilities. One of them was in Los Angeles.
Like Tom Hanks, one of the best Robert De Niro films, Heat (1995), is shot in the city. People think that this is the second time the actor shared the screen with Al Pacino, but that’s not true. It was the first time, as they didn’t share the screen in Godfather: Part II given they were featured in different timelines.
A few films in the Fast & Furious franchise were shot here too. The films include The Fast and the Furious (2001), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), and more.
