She is survived by her husband, Andy Spade, and her daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, who was reportedly 13 years old at that time. Spade had been separated from her husband for 10 months.

Kate Spade’s last fashion venture, a shoe and handbag collection, was named after her daughter and was called Frances Valentine. Kate and her husband married in 1994, and in 2005, they welcomed their daughter, who is now 20 years old.

After she died in 2018, Andy Spade moved to the West Coast with Frances. In June 2019, he purchased a $3.5 million home in California. Frances is known for working in two films: The Pleasure of Being Robbed (2008) and The Black Balloon (2012). Kate Spade loved her daughter immensely and also left a suicide note addressed to her after her death. In the note, Kate reassured Frances that her mother's suicide was not her fault, writing:

"Bea — I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy," according to TMZ.
