Big guys are up again in Troll 2, bringing chaos with them in the sequel to the Netflix film. Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen return as Nora, Andreas, and Kristoffer, respectively. They'll befriend another troll who will help them fight another troll.
The film was released on Netflix on December 1, 2025. There's a trailer on YouTube you can watch to get a gist of what is to come in continuation of the 2022 film. 2022's Troll was well received by the critics, who gave it an 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
We have one interesting story there, and the visuals are really exemplary. But what's mesmerizing is the landscapes, the locations where the films were shot. We are here to see where the second movie in the series was filmed, which is largely in Norway.
Troll 2 filming locations
Trondheim, Norway
Trondheim is a well-established city in Norway's Trøndelag region, the setting of Troll 2. More specifically, the area around the Nidaros Cathedral is featured in the film.
Other than the latest Netflix project, other movies shot here include Until the Light Takes Us (2008), Goal II: Living the Dream (2007), Finding Father Christmas (2016), and more.
Hemsedal, Norway
This Norwegian municipality is a traditional region in the valley of Hallingdal. It has three mountains, Hydalsberget, Langebottfjellet, and Leinenosi, in the area, making it a perfect setting for where trolls can reside.
The region hasn't seen any film shot here, but a documentary dubbed Snowboarding: For Me (2014) does feature the location.
Maridalen, Norway
A Norwegian valley that can work wonders for anyone looking to escape the fast-moving world. The scenic landscapes here again serve as a great place for trolls to hang out.
Other than the latest Netflix film, North Star (1996) features the location. Additionally, you'll see it featured in several shorts like Jupiter's Bane, Hull i Himmelen, and more.
Jotunheimen, Norway
That name certainly rings a bell if you are into Norse mythology. In video games, it's God of War that features the name, and in film, it is famously mentioned in Thor and some other MCU films. However, that's from mythology. There's actually a place called Jotunheimen in Norway, but that doesn't make it less mythical.
Jotunheimen is featured in Troll 2 and another film series called Cold Prey.
Rjukan, Norway
Troll 2 also features the Norwegian town of Rjukan. There's a hydroelectric power plant that goes by the name of Vermor, and the shooting took place in the surrounding region there. Interestingly, when it was built in 1911, it was considered the world's largest power plant.
Budapest, Hungary
The final location in this list includes the beautiful capital of Hungary. It was chosen because the team was unable to secure certain areas for filming Trolls 2, so they had to scout for a perfect setting for certain scenes.
