All we know about the life of Adelia Zeidler as she passes away

Adelia Zeidler, known as Ada, who was the elder sister of George Clooney, shared a deeply close bond with him throughout their lives. She remained, however, out of the public eye, leading a private life.

She is noted to have attended the star-studded wedding of her brother and Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) in September 2014 in Venice.

Adelia Zeidler was married to Norman Zeidler. The couple wed on March 14, 1987, in a hometown ceremony in Augusta, Kentucky, near the Ohio River banks. During their wedding ceremony, Clooney reportedly read scripture, and their aunt, Rosemary Clooney, performed a song. Norman passed away in 2004 due to a sudden heart attack.

Adelia Zeidler was born a year before George in 1960 in Augusta, Kentucky. She worked as an elementary school art teacher in Augusta. Ada and George grew up in the same tight-knit social circle. Besides being siblings, they were also close friends.

According to Hello! Magazine, George and Ada’s mother recalled in a 2006 interview:

“I came home from work one day and George and our daughter and several friends were having a party in [a room of our house]. They had taken [marshmallows], and they would lick one side of them, and throw them at each other. When I came in, there were marshmallows stuck all over the room.”

In her high school, she was academically qualified to be a National Merit Scholar. Adelia attended college in Louisville and Northern Kentucky after graduating from Augusta Independent School.

She remained deeply rooted in the family's hometown of Augusta throughout her life. She had been ‘a member of the Augusta Art Guild and was a past grand marshal of Augusta's Annual White Christmas Parade,’ her obituary noted.

Adelia “died peacefully” while 'surrounded by the people she loved' at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Kentucky, according to her obituary.

Adelia Zeidler is survived by her beloved children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga and her husband, Kenny; her brother, George Clooney and his wife, Amal; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
