At first, the upcoming Netflix documentary Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers, which is about Aileen Wuornos, seems like a documentary about a psychopathic serial killer who loves killing people. Such is usually the case.
However, there's always a story behind it. For those who are unaware of this name, she killed seven men in the span of a year. All of those incidents happened after, as Aileen claimed, after they tried to, or did, rape her.
The Netflix documentary will be available on October 30, 2025, for streaming. BBC Studios Documentary Unit has produced it in collaboration with NBC News Studios. Emily Turner has directed it, which includes archival footage by former Dateline correspondent Michele Gillen, who passed away in 2021.
Several depictions of Aileen have been portrayed in film and television, most popularly by Charlize Theron, who played Aileen "Lee" Wuornos in the 2003 film Monster and won an Oscar for Best Actress in a film.
What did Aileen Wuornos do?

Aileen is famous for her killing spree that ran from 1989 to 1990. She used to be involved in prostitution activities, which is when she met these men and killed them. However, she has claimed that these men tried to do her wrong first, and then certain events followed, which ended with these men dying.
However, she has also recanted claims of self-defense and changed them to claims like robbery and a desire to eliminate every witness.
Her first victim, called Richard Charles Mallory, was a 51-year-old man. She said that he sodomized and raped her, and she killed the man in self-defense. It later became known that the man had been convicted of rape before. His body was found in a wooded area.
Her second victim was a 47-year-old construction worker named David Andrew Spears. His body was found with six bullets in it on U.S. Highway 19. After this, she killed a 40-year-old rodeo worker called Charles Edmund Carskaddon, whose body was found in an electric blanket.
The fourth victim was the most elderly, a 65-year-old man named Peter Abraham Siems. Investigators never found the man's body. After that, it was a 50-year-old man, Troy Eugene Burress, who was shot a couple of times.
Her last two victims, Charles Richard "Dick" Humphreys (56 years old) and Walter Gino Antonio (61 years old), were a chief of police and a reserve police officer. Both were shot several times.
What did people do to Aileen Wuornos?
While reading all this definitely gives us a glimpse of how brutal this lady was, the people had an equal part in making Aileen Wuornos the monster we know today.
She had a rough childhood, which pushed her into sexual activities at an early age to support herself. She has also claimed that her grandfather, with whom she was living after her mother left her, sexually assaulted her and stripped her naked.
Aileen Wuornos' friends also claimed that she was also raped by the grandfather of one of her friends, an event that ended with her being impregnated.
