Indian-origin American comedian, actor, and podcaster Akaash Singh recently defended his wife, Jasleen Chawla, against the ongoing social media tirade against her. Chawla, 32, is a podcaster and influencer who also works in social media marketing and communications.

Last week, TikToker @g2malik uploaded an audio clip from one of Singh’s recent stand-up shows, in which the 41-year-old comedian said calling his wife a “gold digger” and a “wh*re” was a “sh*tty thing” to do. He then narrated a story of how he had no money and was barely making $25 a day from doing MTV stand-up shows when he first met Chawla in 2014.

“If she was a gold digger, that I didn’t even have a $10 to give the b*tch, to be honest,” Akaash added.

He continued by narrating another story:

“But then in 2018, I went flat f**king broke. 34 years old, I probably made $4,000 that entire year and we couldn’t even afford the living room we lived in New York City and we had to move out of that apartment and move to New Jersey. And what’s even sadder than moving to New Jersey is that I had to save up money to move to New Jersey,” Singh noted.

Akaash Singh claimed that he and Jasleen Chawla had to stay on her friend’s couch for a month and were “basically homeless” because of his money troubles. However, when Chawla, his girlfriend at the time, stayed with him throughout, he knew he would never find a girl who “rides for me this hard ever again.”

Notably, the “gold digger” controversy surrounding Jasleen Chawla stemmed from her October 2025 remark on her podcast Main Character, in which she claimed her husband’s money was her “own,” while her sole income is also hers to spend.

All about Akaash Singh’s wife, Jasleen Chawla

Akaash Singh crossed paths with Jasleen Chawla in 2015 when she attended one of his stand-up shows with her sister, who was his fan. After the show, the pair bonded, and the night ended with him offering her his jacket.

They began dating soon after and have been together ever since. The couple tied the knot in July 2021 in New Jersey, but currently stay in New York City.

Jasleen Chawla attended Drexel University, where she majored in finance and business analytics in 2016, with a minor in marketing and mathematics. She then obtained her master’s degree in business and economic reporting from NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

Over the course of her career, Chawla worked in several finance/ investment firms, including as a sales associate in Abercrombie & Fitch, an external reporting co-op in JPMorgan Chase, a marketing/supply chain finance co-op in Johnson & Johnson, a private wealth management co-op in Goldman Sachs, and a business technology analyst in Deloitte Consulting.

Jasleen also worked as a data analyst at both 360i and Omnicom Health Group before joining Employee Benefit News (EBN) as a news reporter, writer, and producer.

According to her LinkedIn bio, Akaash Singh’s wife has recently worked in:

“marketing analytics and social media management, honing my skills in data-driven decision-making and audience engagement. From developing targeted campaigns to analyzing performance metrics, I’ve helped brands strengthen their online presence and connect with diverse audiences.”
She added, “My work in this field has allowed me to combine my passion for storytelling with my analytical expertise, optimizing strategies that drive both engagement and results.”

Jasleen Chawla is the daughter of Punjabi immigrant parents who is passionate about “hearing people’s stories and learning about different cultures.” In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog, doing pilates, uploading content on TikTok (over 165,000 followers), and watching her favorite shows on TV and OTT.

Exploring recent controversies surrounding Jasleen Chawla

Apart from her comment about considering her husband’s money her own, Jasleen Chawla was recently criticized when she revealed on her podcast that she was “not a virgin” when she met Akaash Singh.

In the now-viral clip, Jasleen said she often got “painfully nostalgic for college” when she remembered how she would attend frat parties, date multiple men, and have a good time.

Meanwhile, the comedian has maintained that both he and his wife were s*xually inexperienced until they got married. Not only that, but she recently defended his wife against the “gold digger” comment.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Jasleen Chawla clapped back at a TikTok user in a now-removed video who accused her of “not waiting” until her wedding.

"Who the f**k are you to talk about when I lost my f**king virginity? I will talk about it, because it's my f**king sexuality and it's my f**king story. So, sit the f**k down and shut the f**k up," Chawla stated.

She also claimed that both she and Akaash Singh seemingly “hooked up with other people” before finding each other.

Elsewhere, both Jasleen Chawla and her comedian husband hit back at podcaster Myron Gaines, who recently took a jab at their relationship.

Jasleen spoke about threes*mes and being attracted to Telany’s husband in a recent episode of her podcast. In response, Akaash Singh’s longtime rival, Gaines, commented under her YouTube video:

“I hate being right all the time.”

In a follow-up remark on X, Myron added:

“I’m never wrong about these women… Stupid a** jeet @AkaashSingh tried to lecture me about women years ago with his equally retarded co-host @andrewschulz aka AnJew Schulztein... Here's this jeet's stupid a** wife making a mockery of him and herself on a podcast.”

The Fresh & Fit podcaster shared a link to Jasleen’s latest video and wrote that he was “about to cook him and her like curry” when he got back to Miami.

Akaash Singh responded with a clip of his previous interaction with Myron Gaines on his Flagrant podcast. He captioned his X post:

“My man out here getting triggered by jokes. How ironic. Well don't worry about me, Myron. I got no issue putting a b*tch in her place.”

Myron further responded with an edited clip of the couple and wrote:

“Hey @AkaashSingh, shut the f**k up and NEVER talk sh*t again. Focus on your RAN THROUGH th*t wife!”

While Chawla didn’t respond to Gaines directly, she asked her TikTok and Instagram users to stop reacting to the comments made by the “red pill podcast guys” as they were “cockroaches and parasites.”

Elsewhere, she clarified that she and her husband often joked at “each other’s expenses.” For instance, Jasleen Chawla recently called out Akaash Singh for hosting Donald Trump on his podcast, joking:

“There goes our investment portfolio, you d**k.”

Notably, Myron Gaines appeared on the Flagrant podcast in 2022 with his co-host Walter Weekes, during which Singh and Andrew Schulz ridiculed them for their “corny and childish” remarks, such as not dating Black women.
