All we know about Al Michaels’ family

Al Michaels’ wife, Linda Anne Stamaton, played a crucial role in his broadcasting career. She stood as her husband’s backbone throughout his journey.

Linda was born on December 18, 1944, in California, US, which makes her currently 81 years old. She started her career in the mid-60s by working as an assistant prize coordinator on Chuck Barris’ shows such as The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game. Even, Michaels began his television career on these shows, according to a report in Heavy.

They met as teenagers at Hamilton High School in Los Angeles. They started dating in the 10th grade and have known each other since 15. He refers to Linda as “the love of my life.” In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Al Michaels said:

“She is just the greatest. That is the biggest piece of luck that ever came down the pike for me.”

The couple tied the knot on August 27, 1966. They welcomed their first child, a son named Steve Michaels, in 1970. They were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Cohn, in 1974.

Two years after their marriage in 1966, they relocated to Hawaii, where Al Michaels worked as a live commentator for the Pacific Coast League’s Hawaii Islanders baseball team. He also called games for the University of Hawaii. In 1977, he got signed as the broadcaster for ABC Sports.

Just like her partner, Linda is also a sports enthusiast. She and Al Michaels are fans of the Los Angeles Kings hockey team. They attended the franchise’s very first game in 1967.

In a 2016 Bleacher Report, Michaels’ wife shared that she has never seen her husband eating a vegetable. She said:

“Since the day I met him—when I was 15 years old—he never had a vegetable. Not even a salad. When he was a baby, you know how you don’t want your vegetables? I think his mother let him get away with it.”

In order to stay healthy, Michaels:

“..eats all his fruits. And he takes vitamins. And he drinks V8.”

Al Michaels’ son, Steve, is the chairman and CEO of Pantheon Media Group (formerly Asylum Entertainment). His projects include The Kennedys, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, Happy Valley and Beverly Hills Pawn, according to IMDb.

His sister Jennifer worked as a director of corporate communications for the Game Show Network, according to a 2003 report in the Los Angeles Times.
