Who is Alejandro Landero? Mexican actor pleads for help after being found living in streets with pets

Alejandro Landero recently went viral after images and videos of him living in the streets with his pets surfaced on the social media platform X. Landero is a Mexican television actor, host, acting coach, and English teacher, according to US Magazine.

The @LaRomaMex account shared a 1-minute and 23-second post on October 20 where Alejandro was seen sitting on a bench on a sidewalk of Mazatlán Avenue in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City with his dog Max and four cats and few belongings. The post creator urged for help in a Spanish caption, which translates as:

“HELP! Neighbor actor Alejandro Landero is out of work and is in a #streetsituation with his three #kittens and his #puppy, whom he doesn't want to abandon. He is looking for shelter for a month. He is in Mazatlán, between Juan de la Barrera and Agustín Melgar, in front of the #Condesa building.”

Later, @LaRomaMex shared a Spanish message from Landero himself, in which he said:

“My name is Alejandro Landero. I'm going through a difficult time right now, a tough trial, but God always shows you the right path and places the right people in your life. And today is proof of that. I want to thank you all for the invaluable help you're giving me.”

As per El Financiero reports, local residents have stepped up to help him with temporary shelter, food, and clothing. They are also raising funds for him.

Alejandro Landero was born Alejandro Jesus Landero Garcia in Mexico City. He rose to fame in the 1980s after appearing in several telenovelas. For instance, in 1987, he played the role of the chauffeur Rigo Camacho in Rosa Salvaje, alongside Veronica Castro, who played Rosa Garcia.

His other acting credits include Vivir un poco in 1985, Pasion y poder in 1988, according to IMDb. US Magazine listed more projects featuring Alejandro Landero, such as Imperio de Cristal (1994), Monte Calvario (1986), Bianca Vidal (1982), Papa soltero (1989), Un rostro en mi pasado (1989), and Entre la vida y la muerte (1993).

Throughout his career, the Mexico City native also worked as a host for TV Azteca and Once TV. Landero served as an English language and acting tutor.

According to TVyNovelas Magazine and Azteca Noticias, the actor is currently homeless after being evicted from his apartment last week after failing to pay rent, having been out of work for several months now. A local resident identified told the outlets how Alejandro had been living on the streets for three nights in a row and he was peaceful and kept his kittens in a carrier.

The artist also mentioned he would continue raising awareness on physical disabilities and neurodivergence. He also revealed that he is autistic and lives with ADD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
