Alon Abutbul added that despite being a “good family,” it was torn apart. His father was an insurance agent, and his mother was an accountant. His brother Avraham was a year and a half older than him. Abutbul said:

“Before I became aware of what was happening in the house, I had an amazing childhood. It was always an open house, with people coming and going. My maternal grandmother and great-grandmother lived next to us, and every day after school I went to them. They were my anchor, always there for me."

His parents married in 1960 in Haifa, but soon after their marriage, physical and mental abuse entered their lives, which took a toll on their relationship. He added:

“There were always battles, quarrels, tension, shouting. Vicious beatings, in front of me. Battles were the family narrative. I remember big fights on seder night, and suddenly everything blowing up.”

He shared a close bond with his brother, Avraham, who was often beaten “savagely” by their father. Avraham’s works include Ushpizin (2004), Double Edge (1992), and House Committe Rivalry (1986), according to his IMDb profile.
