He told the outlet:

“After my parent's divorce, my mother had to buy groceries and pay bills while getting paid $2/hour and working 6 days a week as a dental hygienist. In fact, I was given food stamps in elementary school and refused to use them because I was embarrassed, as it would mean that other kids could see how financially poor we were.”

Driven by financial troubles, Roger Fishman built a successful career. He grew up being influenced by National Geographic, watching Jacques Cousteau and studying wildlife, and different cultures around the world.

He worked for 10 major companies, eventually founding his own production consulting business, per his biography on his official website.

However, after his son was born he pursued his passion for art and adventure and became a photographer. He camped with the Penguins in Antarctica, braving the negative 40 degree temperatures. He sailed through the Drake Passage twice, took photographs of a mother Cheetah with her cubs in Kenya, and grizzly bears in Alaska.

Besides nature and wildlife, he loves capturing dramatic landscapes to document the climatic changes. His primary focus in recent years has been on aerial photography and videography, particularly in regions like Greenland and Iceland.
