''My hilarious, complex mother died. A product of the last depression, let’s NOT do this again. 🇺🇸 Let’s protect and care.''

Dorothy's obituary reveals that she passed away peacefully in the presence of her family and close friends. She was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, and was married to Joseph Stone in 1950. They remained married for nearly 60 years. Joseph then passed away in 2009.

She worked as a bookkeeper in a company founded by her husband, Aggressive Forge. In a 2021 career retrospective at the Zurich Film Festival, Sharon described a little about her mother parents style and called it ''tough.'' She recalled asking Dorothy, “‘Why [do] you never let me lean on you?, to which she replied saying: ''Because I taught you to stand on your two goddamn feet,'' as per People.

Her obituary also states that Dorothy was called ''Dot'' by her friends and was known for her sense of humor, gardening, music taste, and socializing.

Dorothy's memorial event will happen sometime during the summer months in Montana.
