Donald Trump and his nephew, Frederick Crist "Fritz" Trump III, commonly known as Fred Trump III, have lately been the subject of discussion following the President's recent comment in which he called Minnesota's mayor Tim Walz the R-word. Donald Trump, in a Thanksgiving post on his Truth Social website on November 27, 2025, targeted Minnesota's Somali community and Walz, who, besides being the state's mayor, is also a former vice presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.

As he took to Truth Social, Donald Trump not only targeted the Somali community and Walz, but in his post, he also used a derogatory slur and disrespected people who are intellectually disabled. The president wrote:

"The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both"

After a few days, while facing a bunch of reporters on Air Force One, Donald Trump was faced with a journalist who talked about how using the R-word is offensive. The president decided to double down on his Truth Social comment and, in reference to Walz, said:

"Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with him, absolutely, sure. I think there’s something wrong with him."

However, Donald Trump's nephew, Fred Trump III, took to X (formerly Twitter) on November 30, 2025, and in reference to the president's derogatory slur about intellectually disabled people, wrote:

"As the parent of a young adult with severe disabilities, the use of the 'R' word is never acceptable and is very hurtful. Where has this country gone that we even have to discuss this?"

After Fred Trump III's X post in which he mentioned how unacceptable it is for someone to use the R-word, the netizens became interested in finding out who he is. According to Simon & Schuster, besides being Donald Trump's nephew, Fred Trump III is the grandson of Fred Trump, a businessman and real estate developer who was the head of the Trump family and its massive real estate empire.

According to The New York Times, born to Fred Trump Junior and Linda Clapp, Fred Trump III is a real estate executive, a writer, and an advocate for individuals with disabilities. He attended Lehigh University, from which he graduated. He has also been a manager at a New York-based real estate company, First Winthrop Corporation. His wife, Lisa Beth Lorant, is also an advocate and a supporter of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

According to People, Fred Trump III shares three children with Lisa. One of their kids, their son, William, was born with a KCNQ2 mutation. Due to his condition, William cannot speak nor can he walk, and has to take the help of a wheelchair in order to move.

According to People, the US President's nephew, in his 2024 memoir, Fred Trump All In The Family, accused Donald Trump of not only using racist language but also using the N-word. In the book, he also mentioned how the president talked about his disabled son and said that it would be better if he had died.

In his memoir, Fred Trump III recounted meeting his uncle in the Oval Office in 2020 along with Alex Azar, who was at the time the Health and Human Services Secretary, and disability advocates. In the book, Fred Trump III wrote:

"I thought [Donald] had been touched by what the doctor and advocates in the meeting had just shared about their journey with their patients and their own family members. But I was wrong."

He continued and mentioned that Donald Trump told him:

"Those people... The shape they’re in, all the expenses, maybe those kinds of people should just die."

Elsewhere in the memoir, Fred Trump III mentioned how he once went to the president for financial support for his son, and Donald Trump allegedly said:

"I don’t know. He doesn’t recognize you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida."
