Dog The Bounty Hunter’s stepson Gregory Zecca has sparked waves on the internet after he accidentally killed his 13-year-old son Anthony on July 19, 2025 during an accidental shooting at their apartment in Naples, Florida, TMZ reported.

Representatives of Hunter and his wife Francie Chapman (previously Francie Frane) released a statement on their grandson’s tragic death. They wrote:

"We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony."

According to a report in the People magazine, Zecca is the biological son of Francie Frane. She worked as a rancher in Colorado and owned a company called Erosion Solutions Inc.

There is no information on his biological dad except for his stepdad, Robert “Bob” Frane, who passed away in 2018 after his battle with cancer, as per Entertainment Now. Zecca was close to him and often supported him through his social media posts.

Gregory Zecca is Duane Chapman’s stepson, who is popularly known as Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife, Francie Chapman’s son from her previous marriage.

International Business Times reported that Gregory Zecca is currently 38 years old. He is believed to be assisting the family in its bounty hunting activities, alongside Chapman's daughter Lyssa.

The outlet added that, according to his social media account, he had previously engaged in recreational firearms training with his son, Anthony. He is known to have frequently visited shooting ranges with him. The New York Post reported that Gregory Zecca took his son to a gun range in 2021, and the same year they visited a gun store.

Gregory shared a close bond with his late stepfather, Robert Frane. In one of his Facebook posts, he showed support to his stepfather during his cancer battle and wrote:

"5 hours of chemotherapy yesterday, worked all night, been out plowing since midnight and is still going. Maybe instead of praying for Bob we should be praying to be like Bob!"

According to his obituary, Robert Frane was born on June 15, 1954, and passed away on December 30, 2018, at the age of 64.

Even though Francie has moved on in her life with Chapman, she still remembers her late husband and often pays him tribute on her Instagram. Francie shared a tribute on his birthday in June 2021. She captioned his picture:

"Happy Birthday Bob Frane !!I have no doubt You are having the time of your life celebrating your birthday in heaven. You are in our hearts always and I will see u again."

Today, Francie has an active social media following with over 82.2K followers on Instagram. After previously working as a rancher in Colorado, she is now an active speaker and author, as described on her Instagram profile. She is also the owner and founder of Bounty Wear.

Entertainment Now reported that Chapman knew Francie’s late husband, Robert Frane. He reportedly reached out to him to ask if he is interested to work on his yard. Frane owned the company called France Enterprises, Inc. based in Colorado. When Chapman called after his passing, he spoke to Francie and the two developed an “instant connection.”

Gregory Zecca's mother got married to Chapman in 2021. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Duane Chapman gained fame after appearing on Dog the Bounty Hunter from 2004 to 2012. The show also featured his wife, Beth Chapman, and their other family members. Unfortunately, she died in June 2019 after her three-year battle with throat cancer.

People magazine reported that Chapman is the father of 13 children that he shares with his wives from previous marriages.

The two made their relationship Instagram official in April 2020 and got engaged in May 2020.

Reportedly, no arrests have been made in the case of Gregory Zecca's son as the police has called it an “isolated incident.” However, an investigation is ongoing.
