Harris Yulin passed away on June 10 at the age of 88 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Yulin was known for his roles in Scarface, Training Day, and Clear and Present Danger. He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 1996 for his guest role in Frasier.
According to Deadline, Yulin’s death was confirmed by his family and Yulin's manager, Sue Leibman.
Harris Yulin began his stage career in New York in 1963 and later made his Broadway debut in Watch on the Rhine. His first film was Doc, released in 1971, where he played the role of Wyatt Earp. He later played roles in many movies, some of them being Ghostbusters II, The Hurricane, and Rush Hour 2.
Along with movies, he also appeared in many television series, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Ozark.
Harris also directed The Trip to Bountiful at the Signature Theatre, for which he received the Lucille Lortel Award.
Tributes are pouring in following the death of Harris Yulin
Michael Hoffman, who directed Game 6, shared a heartfelt message remembering Harris, who was part of the film’s cast.
"Harris Yulin was very simply one of the greatest artists I have ever encountered. His marriage of immense technique with an always fresh sense of discovery, gave his work an immediacy and vitality and purity I've experienced nowhere else. And what he was as an actor, he was as a man, the grace, the humility, the generosity."
American actor Bryan Greenberg, who worked with Yulin in a movie, A Short History of Decay, wrote on X,
"Such an honor to get to know and work with Harris Yulin. RIP🕊️"
A Ghostbusters fan update account, @GBNewsdotcom, remembered Yulin, who appeared in Ghostbusters II, in a post on X.
"We’re saddened to share the news of the passing of acclaimed actor Harris Yulin, who died June 10 in New York City at the age of 87. For Ghostbusters fans, Yulin is remembered for portraying the no-nonsense Judge Stephen Wexler, aka “The Hammer,” in Ghostbusters II"
Yulin had been set to appear in the upcoming TV series American Classic, alongside Laura Linney and Kevin Kline, before his passing. As per Deadline, it is still under production.
