Heidi Gardner, best known for her stint in the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, is exiting the show, ahead of its 51st season, according to Entertainment Weekly. Gradner had joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player in September 2017, at the start of Season 43.
Outside SNL, Gardner is known for appearing in the 2018 comedy film Life of the Party, and for voicing characters in SuperMansion and Bratz. Heidi was married to Zeb Wells, who is a comic book writer, screenwriter, and voice actor, from 2010 to 2023.
In addition to Gardner, several other cast members and writers are also exiting the show, including Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Celeste Yim, and Rosebud Baker.
More on Heidi Gardner's personal life
Although Heidi has not released a statement regarding her departure from the show, many news outlets have confirmed her exit.
Gardner was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Rick Gardner and Erny Huelke. Heidi also has an elder brother, Justin, who is an actor, filmmaker, and digital creator.
Heidi worked part-time at the Tivoli Theater in Kansas City, performing various tasks that included selling tickets and making popcorn as a child. As a teenager, she was not interested in acting; however, she performed as a flautist in the school band and participated in comedy sketches during school talent shows.
In her senior year, her classmates voted her as “most likely to be a cast member of Saturday Night Live.” Before acting, Heidi worked at a hair salon for nine years. She then quit her job as a hairstylist and worked as a voice artist. She appeared on the animated series, including SuperMansion and Mike Tyson Mysteries, and then joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2017.
She also worked in different films, including Hustle, Making Babies, and Otherhood. She also worked in television shows, including That Damn Michael Che, You, and Shrinking.
Some of her most memorable SNL characters include Angel, Every Boxer’s Girlfriend From Every Movie About Boxing Ever, Bailey Gismert, who is an angsty teen film critic who appeared on Weekend Update, Every Teenage Girl in a Movie, and YouTube beauty influencers parody, in which Gardner often played eccentric online personalities.
Just three days back, Devon Walker, the actor and writer, who joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player for the show's 48th season, also announced his exit. According to reports, the shake-up is a planned reinvention for the 50th season, which will introduce new comedic voices and a fresh tone in the upcoming season of the show.
