Mingus Lucien Reedus, son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, has been arrested for alleged assault. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) stated that Reedus has been charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault, according to a report in People.

The 25-year-old was reportedly taken into custody in New York City near 16th Street and 8th Avenue at 8:40 am local time on August 23, 2025.

Mingus had earlier been arrested in September 2021. Back then, he had allegedly assaulted a 24-year-old woman at New York City's San Gennaro festival, per the outlet.

NYPD also informed that they found a 33-year-old female at the scene with leg and neck injuries. Mingus’ arrest has sparked an online discussion about the family, including his parents.

Mingus' mother Helena Christensen is a famous model of the 1990s, while his father Norman Reedus is an established actor.

Born in December 1968 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Christensen began modelling at the age of nine, per IMDb. She has modelled for Elle magazine, Chanel and Prada. Her big break came in 1991, when she appeared in the music video for Chris Isaak's Wicked Games.

Norman Reedus is a noted actor, best recalled for his role of Murphy MacManus in The Boondock Saints films, and for playing Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead.

Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen were reportedly never married but shared a five-year relationship from 1998 to 2003. They first crossed paths when they were introduced through a mutual friend in 1998. In an interview with Nylon, Reedus talked about his relationship with his Helena. Recalling his first meeting, he said:

“When we met, it was just perfect. I met her through a friend of mine, a DJ and an artist in L.A., at a birthday party downtown at this Japanese restaurant. Some mutual friends of ours were like, 'You should meet this girl, you'd love this girl, you guys would hit it off.'”

He added:

“When she came into the restaurant, I didn't wanna look at her. She was sitting right across the table, and I didn't want to look at her, because I knew if we started up a conversation, it would be serious from that time on. I was just cowardly."

After a year of dating, the couple welcomed their son, Mingus Lucien Reedus, on October 13, 1999.

The couple broke up in 2003. Following their split, Helena Christensen and Norman Reedus continued to share the custody of their son and have been co-parenting him ever since. They are on good terms, as Helena was recently spotted showing her support for Norman at his secret photography exhibit in New York City.
