American singer, dancer, and actor Jaafar Jackson is playing the titular role in the upcoming musical biopic, Michael, based on the life and career of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The official teaser was released on November 6, 2025.

Jaafar is the son of MJ’s older brother, Jermaine Jackson, and his ex-wife, Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza. While Jermaine is a singer, songwriter, and bassist, Alejandra is an entrepreneur and fashion designer.

According to the biopic producer Graham King, his team conducted a two-year global search for the titular role. However, it soon became “clear” that Jaafar Jackson, 29, was the “only person” to take it on.

The first glimpse of the lead actor and MJ’s nephew was shared in February 2024 after the movie began its production, according to PEOPLE. The King of Pop’s mother also approved the casting, claiming Jaafar “embodies” her late son.
