Jane Etta Pitt has passed away, according to reports. According to PEOPLE, she was 84 at the time of her death, as she passed away just days before what would've been her 85th birthday. Apart from being the mother of uber-famous actor Brad Pitt, Jane was also a doting wife, grandmother, and philanthropist.

Jane Etta Pitt's demise has shocked everyone, and the news of her demise was also confirmed by her granddaughter, Sydney Pitt. She posted a moving message in commemoration of her late grandmother on Instagram, where she said:

"My sweet Grammy, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier. She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it. I don’t know how we move forward without her. ... We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us."

Jane Etta Pitt- a brief history

After being born in Tennessee, Jane put down her roots in Missouri, where she pursued a career in education and worked as a school counselor. She married William Alvin Pitt in 1962, and the couple later raised their three children (Brad, Doug, and Julie) in Springfield, Missouri.

Jane's family eventually expanded to include 14 grandchildren, among them Brad’s six children with Angelina Jolie. Owing to troubles between Brad Pitt and Angelina, Jane's meetings with her grandchildren had become less frequent over the past couple of years, as per the Daily Mail.

The relationship between her and her children remained close, even throughout Brad Pitt's rise to fame. While Jane maintained a relatively private life away from the Hollywood spotlight, she occasionally appeared alongside her son at select events.

Jane Etta Pitt was also an avid enthusiast of the Today show, and used to watch it on a daily basis. Brad Pitt also mentioned the same to anchor Savannah Guthrie, where he said:

"I gotta say hi to my mom because she watches you every morning. To Jane Pitt. Love you, Mom."

Brad’s continued acknowledgment of his mother in interviews and public appearances spoke to the lasting impact she had on his life.
