My heart is shattered, and my world is obliterated. I am only sharing this publicly to let all of you know I will be stepping away from Bengals coverage for an indefinite period of time.”Nicki Morrison was a loving wife to Jay Morrison for over three decades and the mother of their two children, Veda and Braden. Not much is known about her professional life.In his statement, Jay also shared that there would be no funeral for his late wife as per her wishes. Six years and one day later, we got married. Happy Anniversary weekend, Nicki Heiligenberg Morrison.”Nicki and Jay tied the knot on May 2, 1993. They have a daughter named Veda, who is a middle school teacher, coach, and mentor. My love, admiration, respect and awe for the greatest person I know continues to soar higher and higher. It's been 30 years and one day since we tucked our moms in on Mom's Weekend at OU and headed back out for some late-night fun that ignited a life-long romance. Who knows what the next 25 years will hold, but as long as I'm with you, who cares? Happy Anniversary. I love you.”Earlier this year, the couple marked their 32nd wedding anniversary. In his social media wish, Jay Morrison called Nicki “impossibly patient and tolerant” and celebrated their “happy memories” while awaiting “an exciting trove to come.”“There's no way I could have known exactly what this life would be like when we found each other, but there was never a sliver of doubt that whatever awaited would rock with you by my side,” he wrote at the time. Now, in the wake of Nicki Morrison’s unexpected demise, her grieving husband fondly remembered her as the “most beautiful, caring, bad-a** rocker chick” he had been proud to know and share his life with for the last 37 years.Additionally, Jay Morrison posted the video of Nicki’s Honor Walk on Tuesday via X. I need to advise that the video might be hard to watch, seeing her in that state.”Jay Morrison continued:“But we are sharing it in order to help bring awareness and positivity to the beautiful act of organ donation. True to her selfless spirit and soul until the very end, she will be giving people she has never met the greatest of Christmas gifts.”As seen in the video, Nicki Morrison was surrounded by her close friends and family members alongside hospital staff while she was wheeled through the corridor into the surgery room for organ procurement. The Sports Illustrated columnist thanked everyone to came to send off his wife as a “hero” and those who sent their “love from afar.”Jay’s brother Joseph also shared the Honor Walk video of his sister-in-law on Facebook.
