Katie Slaton passed away at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, on August 25, 2025, at the age of 37. She was the cousin of reality TV stars Tammy and Amy Slaton of the 1000-lb Sisters fame and appeared as a guest on the show.
Katie died of cancer, a few months after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma. Amy and Tammy’s sister, Amanda Halterman, announced the news of their cousin’s demise via social media on Tuesday, as reported by The Mirror.
“It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the [party] and my best friend,” Amanda wrote.
She continued, “I know both our grandparents and friends were there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt, uncle, and cousins, but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone who loves her. Thank you to all who have come out and supported her. #cancersucks.”
Katie Slaton is survived by her parents, brothers, partner Natalie Bailie, and their three children.

Before her cancer diagnosis in early 2025, she worked as a deputy at Henderson County Jail, according to her Facebook bio. Katie Slaton was a former employee at Berry Global. During her pastime, she enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.

Katie Slaton had been in a relationship with Natalie Bailie since June 2021 and had three children, Landon, Liam, and Lily.
In January this year, a man named Leonard Moore launched a GoFundMe to help “Support Katie Slaton's Battle with Stage 4 Cancer.” Originally, the goal was set at $14,000, which was later increased to $100,000. The description stated the fundraiser would cover her medical costs, travel/lodging expenses during treatment, and living expenses, among others.
Tammy Slaton promoted the fundraiser and asked fans and followers to contribute and spread the word, while also praying for Katie.
"Y'all, I'm so sorry to be asking a big favor like this, but if anyone can help, even if it's a dollar, [it] would help my cousin out so much. She has been on my show, but this is something new, [as] our family just found out about her having cancer," Tammy wrote on social media.
The 1000-lb Sisters star added that any donation or prayer would be “greatly appreciated” and would be an “act of kindness.” She concluded by thanking everyone and sharing that she had made her contribution.

The news of Katie Slaton’s death came a day after her cousin, Amanda Halterman, took to Facebook and asked for continued prayers and financial support, while extending her gratitude to those who stood by her.
The funeral service for Katie will be held at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield on the afternoon of August 29, 2025, followed by a burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Contributions in Slaton’s memory can be made to Linda White Hospice.
