Lewis Capaldi has been in the news since he has been chosen as the new Battle Rounds advisor for Team Niall Horan on Season 28 of The Voice in 2025.
Capaldi shares a close bond with Horan since 2017. He provides guidance, support and mentorship to the contestants during the Battle Rounds. He took on the role after returning from a public mental health break. He was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome in September 2022.

The 29-year-old’s personal life has been brought to the media’s attention after his selection as the battle advisor. He has been in relationship with, Ellie MacDowall, a Scottish actress and dancer from early 2023 until they reportedly split in August 2024. She studied commercial performance at university.
MacDowall is also known for working in the short films like Mohihi and The Proposal. She was also seen in the 2023 ITVX series, Archie.

Lewis Capaldi sparked relationship rumors with Ellie MacDowall after they were spotted at a BRITs after party in February 2023, sharing a kiss. During an interview with BBC Radio 2, the Someone You Loved singer opened up about his girlfriend, saying:
“I have a girlfriend and that's going really well. I am a happy chappy, she's a lovely lady. I feel good about everything.”
However, their romance failed to run its course, and they split after dating for a year. An insider told The Sun in August 2024:
“Lewis and Ellie had some long conversations and decided it was best for them to end things. It was a mutual decision. They are still friends and have been talking, so all is not lost. Ellie is still based in Edinburgh and Lewis lives in London so it’s been hard for them to see each other.”
Lewis Capaldi was born on October 7, 1996 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He is a music artist, actor and composer known for Days Gone (2019), Magnum P.I. (2018) and Dog Years (2021). He announced a tour of the UK and Ireland for September 2025, following his comeback after mental health struggle in June 2025.
Capaldi began to experience Tourette syndrome symptoms at the start of his Glastonbury set in 2023. While performing on the Pyramid Stage, he struggled with vocal issues and tics, finding it difficult to complete his set. He apologized to the crowd at the end when he failed to complete his set:
“Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself.”
The Before You Go singer added that he will be taking a break over the next couple of weeks. He received overwhelming support and praise from his fans for taking the decision. When he made his comeback in July 2025, he reflected on his 2023’s performance stating it as “literally the worst moment” of his life.
