All we need to know about Lily Harris

Lily Harris was born on May 3, 1993, to her parents, Amy Madigan and Ed Harris. The couple have maintained a strong marital life since 1983.

The couple celebrated their 42nd anniversary in November 2025. Many believed that they started their whirlwind affair after meeting on the sets of Places in the Heart. However, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Madigan said:

“It's a nice Hollywood story, but it's not true.”

Lily Harris has carved a niche for herself in the field of acting. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Reed College. Later, she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco, joining the class of 2020.

Although she has followed in her parents' footsteps by focusing on theater, her career is still in its early stages. She began with stage productions after her college, including a solo performance of Sarah Kane's 4.48 Psychosis and playing Mark Antony in Julius Caesar.

Notably, Lily Harris made her screen debut in season 7 of Chicago Med, where she portrayed Astrid Meadows, one of the patients treated in the ED.

Despite maintaining a low profile, Lily Harris has appeared occasionally at public events alongside her parents. She accompanied them on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March 2015 when Ed was honored with a star in the Motion Pictures category. Some reports indicated that in September 2008, she joined both parents at the Los Angeles premiere and special screening of Appaloosa at the Academy Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Lily Harris made her first red carpet appearance as a young child on April 18, 1996, at the video release event for Disney's The Aristocats at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, California. At that time, she was nearly three years old. She attended the event with her parents.

She made another red-carpet appearance with her father in September 2021 for the premiere of The Lost Daughter at the 59th New York Film Festival. Harris was reportedly 28 years old at that time.
