Singer Miguel shocked his fans when he announced on September 8, 2025, that he had welcomed a baby with his partner Margaret Zhang.

The couple shared a joint post on Instagram celebrating their child’s first birthday. It featured a small clip which showed the 39-year-old holding his baby in his arms. A note alongside the birthday tribute read:

“Our baby turned 1 today !!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELITO !!! We love you so much ! So proud and honored that you chose us to be your parents. Papá wrote you a song - hope it always reminds you of how loved you are.”

He also tagged Zhang in the post as the video director. Fans are wondering about the child’s mother, Margaret Zhang, who has been in a relationship with Miguel for the past two years, according to a report in Vibe. She is a Chinese-Australian filmmaker. She previously served as the editor-in-chief of Vogue China.

All you need to know about Miguel’s current partner Margaret Zhang

Margaret Zhang and singer Miguel have been quietly associated with each other since around 2023, following Miguel’s divorce from his longtime partner, Nazanin Mandi.

Zhang started dating Miguel in 2023, per Vibe, as the duo were spotted at Elton John AIDS Foundation's 31st Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party in March of the same year. This came five months after the singer’s former wife, Nazanin, filed for divorce in October 2022.

Zhang and the R&B artist have been spotted at various public events, including the Charles Finch and Chanel pre-Oscars dinner in Los Angeles in March 2025. Before that they were seen at a Chanel fashion show in Hangzhou, China in 2024.

However, the pair never confirmed their relationship and have kept their personal details under wraps.

Vibe reported that Margaret Zhang was born and raised in Australia. Her birthday falls on May 28, 1993, making her 32 years old currently. Her parents relocated to Australia from Huangyan, a town in China’s Zhejiang province, as per a Vogue report.

According to Margaret Zhang’s LinkedIn profile, she attended the University of Sydney, where she earned degrees in Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws. She graduated in 2016.

She first started her career as a blogger during her teenage years. She launched a blog, Shine by Three, in 2009. During that time, Zhang worked with multiple brands like CHANEL, Swarovski, YEEZY, Bulgari, Gucci, MATCHES, Under Armour, and Louis Vuitton, both behind and in front of the camera.

In 2017, she co-founded global cultural consultancy, Background with Simon Philby. Margaret Zhang worked as the Creative Director at Large for Asia for The Face Magazine from 2019 to 2020. Later, she went on to serve as the Editor-In-Chief of Vogue China from February 2021 till June 2024. Anna Wintour, Vogue editor in chief, praised Zhang for her role and said:

“I am so delighted that Margaret is our new editor in chief of Vogue China. Her international experience, exceptional multiplatform digital expertise, and wide-ranging interests are the perfect combination to lead Vogue China into the future.”

During her tenure at Vogue China, Zhang launched the Vogue Film Initiative. It supported emerging filmmaker, especially women in China. She produced 17 short films through this platform.

She has also been listed in Forbes Asia's 30Under30 and TimeOut's 40Under40. She has played a crucial role in the international fashion industry. Currently, she is focusing on her career as a filmmaker.
