Maya Brady was selected first overall by the Oklahoma City Spark in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Expansion Draft on December 1.

She was drafted to the Talons in the last season in the fifth round during the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft. Tom Brady once praised the former UCLA star, calling her “the most dominant athlete in the Brady family … by far.”

Her selection in AUSL has sparked a recent interest in her personal life. She was born to parents Maureen Brady and Brian Timmons in June 2001 in San Mateo, California. Maureen is Tom's eldest sister, making Maya his niece. She was an All-American pitcher at Fresno State University.

Brady’s father, Timmons, worked in mechanical goods retail earlier. He later advanced to Global Head of Complex Litigation at the Quinn Emanuel law firm.

Maya Brady was born into an athletic family, which inspired her to follow her passion for sports.

Her mother, Maureen Brady, is the eldest of four siblings, including her and Tom Brady. Her other sisters are Julie and Nancy. Julie was a standout soccer player at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. She was on the soccer team at St. Mary's College in Moraga. She earned a full athletic scholarship with her dedication. She later married Boston Red Sox slugger Kevin Youkilis.

Nancy shone in softball and basketball at Junipero Serra High School. She received an athletic scholarship to play softball at the University of California at Berkeley.

Maureen shares two daughters with Brian Timmons, Maya Brandy and her younger sister Hannah Brandy. Following their divorce, Maureen raised her kids as a single mother. She relocated from northern to southern California to hone their athletic talent. She worked as a traveling nurse while training her daughters.

Maya Brady’s younger sister, Hannah, is also an athletic player like her. She plays Volleyball for the University of Michigan Wolverines.

During an interview with ESPN, Maya Brady shared a heartfelt moment she had with her mother, Maureen Brady, when she was on her way to her first Women's College World Series. She recalled that her mother slipped her a handwritten note which read, “Soak in the moment, you'll remember it for the rest of your life.” She said:

“That was the first time I realized how special it was that we got to play on the same field. It was just so special. One of my favorite memories with me and my mom.”

Maureen has been the backbone of Maya Brady throughout her softball career. Besides raising her as a single mother, Maureen provided her unwavering support and guidance. She drove Maya to tournaments since she was four.

Maya Brady’s biggest fan is her uncle Tom Brady, who has often praised her, calling her the “best athlete” in the family. He reportedly attended several of her UCLA games in person. He is also known to wear UCLA softball gear and promote her achievements on social media.

Tom is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, as his career spanned over two decades. After his retirement two years ago he transitioned into media, business and advisory roles while staying connected to the NFL.
