Young Thug has accused Drake of dismissing the death of Metro Boomin’s mother in a leaked jail call.

In a newly surfaced call, while addressing the beef between Drake and Boomin, he called the Nokia rapper “stupid” for failing to show enough support when Boomin’s mother passed away in June 2022.

According to a post shared by Kurrco on X on September 6, 2025, Thug said:

“Drake so stupid, he probably just sent some stupid condolences… you using the fact that you’re Drake as a weapon now”

This has brought to the limelight the question of what happened to Boomin’s mother back then. Boomin’s mother was Leslie Joanne Wayne.

She was reportedly killed in Atlanta by her husband (who is not Metro Boomin's biological father), who later killed himself by suicide. She raised Boomin along with his three siblings and played a major role in building up his career, according to a report by TMZ.

What did Young Thug say about the beef between Drake and Metro Boomin?

Young Thug spoke on the alleged beef between Drake and Metro Boomin in a leaked jail call, which was shared by Kurrco on X. Their feud reportedly began when Boomin released his album, Heroes & Villains.

According to a post shared by Baller Alert, Thug accused Drake of dismissing Metro’s pain during the time Metro Boomin's mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, died in 2022.

As per the report, he accused Drake of sending “stupid condolences” in his leaked jail call. He slammed him for prioritising his own interests in music over supporting Boomin during a time of grief. He said:

“Then you come right back, two three weeks later, like ‘Yo, let me get this song.’ Instead of calling a n***a every single day.”

Thug further added that Drake leveraged his fame and influence as a superstar to pressurize Metro in their professional relationship. He emphasized the fact that if Drake truly cared about Boomin as a friend, he would have been present physically with him during that time. He added:

“You using the fact that you Drake as a weapon now, and the n***a just not feeling that right now. You shoulda got on your big ol’ plane and went to where a n***a was when a n***a mama died if you really, really, really mess with a n***a.”

Metro Boomin has worked with top music artists including Kanye West, Future, Drake, and Travis Scott. He released his first studio album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, in 2018.

In 2017, Metro created an initiative called Single Moms Are Superheroes to help single mothers across the nation. After his mother passed away in June 2022, he renamed it "Leslie Joanne Single Moms Are Superheroes."

During his tour, Metro announced a multi-city grant program, which provided $20,000 grants and free tickets to his show to single mothers in each city he performed. The cities included Kansas City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, Houston, Denver, Dallas, and Las Vegas.
