American actor, screenwriter, and ex-boxer Mickey Rourke is currently facing a housing crisis, an eviction notice, and financial difficulties. On December 29, his landlord, Eric Goldie, filed a complaint with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming the Wrestler star owes him $59,100 in rent.

According to the legal filing obtained by Rolling Stone, Mickey Rourke, 73, signed the lease in March 2025 and began renting the three-bedroom Spanish bungalow in West Hollywood the following month for $5,200/ month.

Later, the rent was increased to $7,000. When Rourke failed to pay for several months, Goldie attempted to contact him on December 18. However, he was unable to reach him and posted a notice outside his door to either pay the due rent within three days or vacate the premises.

Mickey Rourke, who is a two-time divorcee, is believed to have stayed alone at his rented home. His second wife, Carre Otis, is a San Francisco-born model-actress.

Now, in the wake of his rental dispute, a GoFundMe has been launched on behalf of the actor-boxer titled, “Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home.” It has a goal of $100,000 and has raised $45,000 at the time of writing.

Exploring Mickey Rourke and Carre Otis’ relationship

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mickey Rourke first crossed paths with Carre Otis, 57, on the sets of the 1989 erotic film, Wild Orchid. The pair soon began dating despite their 16-year age gap and walked down the aisle in June 1992.

However, two years into their marriage, Mickey was arrested and charged with spousal abuse. The charges were later dropped. Rourke and Otis reconciled and even appeared in the movie Exit in Red. In December 1998, their union ended in a divorce.

While Mickey Rourke never married again, Carre Otis remarried in 2005. Her husband, Matthew Sutton, is an engineer. They share two daughters.

Otis grew up with two siblings, Chrisse and Jordan, in Marin County, California. She ran away from home at the age of 16 and began modelling. She was soon discovered by Look Model Agency and signed by John Casablancas to his Elite Model Management.

Under the agency, Carre Otis arrived in France and graced the cover of Elle in 1986 and became an overnight sensation. She later collaborated with photographer Bruce Webber and modelled for high-end brands such as Guess, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and more.

She also appeared in notable magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Pirelli’s calendars, and Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions.

Over the years, the mother of two battled cardiac issues and an eating disorder. She also worked with PETA. In her 2011 autobiography Beauty, Disrupted: A Memoir, she called Mickey Rourke an abusive partner.

“There are moments in life that define us. Moments we know are coming. And one of those defining moments for me was the first time I met the man who would become my first husband. I walked through the door of director Zalman King’s house, and I changed my life. It was a warm and sticky Los Angeles afternoon. I saw him right away… the famed Mickey Rourke. I was curious but for some reason unimpressed,” she wrote.

Otis continued:

“We had a passionate affair during the making of King’s ‘Wild Orchid.’ After the movie wrapped, I ended up playing house for Mickey. I knew that something was very wrong with this new life of mine. By everyone else’s standards, I had everything I could possibly want: a big, beautiful home, a relationship with a famous actor. But I had to stop counting there. That was all there was.”

According to Carre, Mickey was a jealous husband and threatened photographer Steven Meisel for clicking her n*de photo for the cover of Vanity Fair and tried “all that he could to derail my career.”

She also recalled an incident when Mickey Rourke allegedly stashed his gun in her purse, which accidentally went off and injured her. Despite that incident, Carre Otis married the actor-boxer seemingly because he threatened to kill himself if she said no to his proposal.

In retrospection, Otis admitted:

“We were wrong. Sadly and predictably, so very, very wrong.”

In a subsequent interview with Huff Post about her book, Carre said that she handled the Mickey Rourke party in a “pretty diplomatic” and “humble” manner, claiming the relationship had both “love” and “insanity.” She also admitted that their respective “dysfunctional” backgrounds and his rise and fall from fame largely impacted their relationship.

Otis further admitted that Rourke’s “suffering” in the later years made her have a “great deal of compassion” for him.

Meanwhile, during a 2008 interview with The Guardian, the Rumble Fish star claimed his control issues and Otis’ heroin addiction ended their marriage. However, he kept pining for her for years, calling her “really special” despite being “fire on fire” or “thunder and lightning.”

Before Carre Otis, Rourke was married to former actress Debbie Feuer between 1981 and 1989. They originally met while filming for the TV movie Hardcase and later co-starred in Homeboy. Reportedly, they continue to remain good, close friends.

During a later interview, Mickey Rourke claimed that his first marriage partly ended due to his scandalous role in 9 ½ Weeks, which he said was “not particularly considerate to my wife’s needs.”

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in 2008, the New York-born actor shared:

“I lost everything. My house, my wife, my credibility, my career. I just had all this anger from my childhood, which was really shame, not anger, and I used it as armor and machismo to cover up my wounds.”

Rourke continued:

“Unfortunately, the way I acted really frightened people, although it was really just me who was scared. But I was like this person who was short-circuited, and I didn’t know how to fix myself.”

In another interview with The Standard four years later, Mickey Rourke echoed similar sentiments.

“I wasn't a little bit bad, I was horrible for 15, 16 years. I was out of control, I was out of my mind. I had to lose my house, my wife, my money, my career, everything, for me to fall all the way down to the bottom, then somebody advised me I needed to talk to somebody. I resisted, but I went, because everything was gone.”

Mickey Rourke has had public romances with several female celebrities, including a six-year relationship with Anastassija Makarenko, until their 2015 split. His other girlfriends were Terry Farrell, Sasha Volkova, Courtney Love, and Bai Ling.
