Ricky Hatton’s relationship with his parents was strained for years due to money issues. Speaking on the matter in 2019 to the Manchester News, he said:

"Ultimately when I fell out with my parents, I hit rock bottom. I didn't care whether I lived or died to be honest with you."

Adding to his statement, he said at that time:

"I just made the effort to think 'listen you know, let bygones be bygones, leave things in the past. That's it."

The same year, Ricky also met his mother Carol and father Ray and uploaded the picture with them on X with a caption:

"Nice meal lastnight with my mum & dad & my charlie @SanCarlo_Group Manchester."

In 2023, Carol, while reading a letter to the Daily Mail, said:

"We haven't heard from Richard since the beginning of May. I've text him, rang him, even posted a letter to him. No response… I know every family on this planet has problems, but unfortunately ours are out there. Richard repeatedly says IT'S GOOD TO TALK. Then why didn't he choose to talk to us? Practice what you preach, son, IT'S GOOD TO TALK."

Carol also shared that her son lives just five minutes away, and she finds it odd that they haven’t seen each other since May.

Ricky had a rocky relationship with his parents over the years, but he was known to be very close to his three children. Despite the personal struggles in his family life, Ricky often expressed pride in his role as a father.

Last month, Ricky Hatton shared a photo with his daughters with a caption that read:

"Lovely meal tonight as always in @thaibotanico & up in the safari centre with my @xmilliexxhattonx & @fearne.hatton_2013 #tenerife🌴"

He also often shared pictures and moments with his granddaughter Lyla on social media, showing their close bond.
