Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner's family have broken their silence since the tragedy. The couple had been found dead in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14.

Reportedly, the Los Angeles fire department responded to a medical aid call around 3:30 p.m., where they discovered the couple with fatal stab wounds. The incident has prompted an investigation by the LAPD.

Their family released a statement on their death to Variety, and stated:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Lucas Reiner is the younger brother of Rob Reiner. He is a painter, printmaker, photographer, filmmaker, writer, and director. Rob also has a younger sister named Annie Reiner. She works as a psychoanalyst, author, playwright, poet, singer, and painter.

Rob Reiner’s sudden death has drawn interest towards his personal life, including his siblings, Lucas Reiner and Annie Reiner.

They grew up together in a creative household and were born to Carl and Estelle Reiner. Rob Reiner was born in March 1947 in The Bronx, New York City and is the eldest child of his parents. He attended Beverly Hills High School and later studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles. He began his career as an actor and then transitioned into writing, directing and producing.

He married twice in his life, first to Penny Marshall and then to Michele Singer.

Rob’s younger brother, and the youngest child of his family, Lucas Reiner, was born in Los Angeles in August 1960.

He attended Parsons School of Design. His mother, Estelle, was a painter who introduced Lucas Reiner to many European painters such as Matisse, Braque, Picasso, Bonnard and American post-war painters such as Pollock, Alice Neel, Mark Tobey and more. She became Lucas’s inspiration, who later chose painting as his profession.

His mentor, Martin Lubner, introduced him to a wide range of elements. Lucas is known for painting series which offer “narrative,” “symbol” and are at the same time “nonrepresentational.”

Rob Reiner’s brother also directed and wrote features, including the time-travel comedy The Spirit of '76 with David Cassidy and The Gold Cup. According to his IMDb page, he has been married to Maud Winchester since June 1990. They share two children.

Rob Reiner’s younger sister, Annie Reiner, was born in May 1949. She is the middle child of Carl and Estelle Reiner. She is an author, playwright, poet and psychoanalyst. She attended the University of California in 1973. She pursued a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California in 1975.

According to her biography on her official website, she received her PhD in Psychoanalysis and her Psy.D. in Psychoanalysis from The Psychoanalytic Center of California in 2007.

Her books include Bion and Being: Passion and the Creative Mind, poetry collections, and illustrated children's stories for which she won the Parents ' Choice Award for Best Audio of 1996. She served as faculty at the Psychoanalytic Center of California.
