Australian actress-model Samara Weaving is on her way to becoming a mother for the first time. The 33-year-old is expecting her firstborn with her husband of five years, Jimmy Warden.

She announced her pregnancy via Instagram with the caption:

“Ready or Not: Here I Come,” a cheeky reference to her 2019 dark comedy horror film ‘Ready or Not.’

The post was accompanied by a carousel of images from her pregnancy photoshoot, in which she flaunted her baby bump.

Jimmy Warden is an American screenwriter, director, and occasional actor, according to his IMDb.

The couple got married during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

All about Samara Weaving’s husband

Samara Weaving met her future husband on the sets of the Netflix 2017 teen dark comedy horror film The Babysitter, where she was a cast member, and he was one of the writers.

They began dating soon after and got engaged in March 2019. However, they could not have a proper wedding or a reception due to the pandemic.

In March 2025, the couple sat down for an interview with PEOPLE Magazine.

“We never actually had a wedding. We got married, but then COVID hit, so we had to cancel the wedding,” Weaving said at the time.

She also joked that they spent their wedding budget on a “pool” inside their home. Meanwhile, Warden added:

“Well, we made the movie instead. I guess we had our wedding, and it's in the movie.”

He was referring to their 2025 joint venture, Borderline. Jimmy Warden wrote and directed the movie, while Samara Weaving starred as 90s pop star Sophia alongside actors Ray Nicholson, Eric Dane, Alba Baptista, and Jimmie Fails in notable roles.

When asked what keeps their relationship strong and going, the actress explained:

“When I'm away or if Jimmy's away shooting, we try not to go two and a half or three weeks [without seeing each other].”

She also mentioned that things start getting “strained” if they are apart too long.

Meanwhile, her husband added that to keep things from turning “weird,” they engage in “daily jokes” whether they are together or apart, including sending each other funny voice notes.

Ahead of the film’s release in September, Jimmy told The Mirror in an exclusive chat that he and Samara Weaving are “pretty good at putting on different hats.” The pair even shared their experiences of collaborating on Borderline.

“I will say that the shorthand is great, though. There was one day when Jimmy's note was, 'Okay, you look at me like you're really annoyed,’” Samara mentioned.
Jimmy responded: “Yeah, it's like, 'I left my wet towel on the bed. Yeah. Give me that death stare.’”

The screenwriter also acknowledged that he wrote his film keeping his wife in mind, as it was both “fun” and that “no one could do the role better than she could.”

“She goes and does all her cool movies, and then she'll throw me a bone every now and again,” Jimmy Warden joked.

He also acknowledged that Madonna served as his “point of inspiration” for the film, as did Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy and other movies such as Misery and The Bodyguard.

Samara Weaving also returned the favor and praised her spouse’s writing and directing skills.

Warden, who uses the pronouns he/ him, is also known for writing the script of Universal Pictures’ 2023 horror comedy movie Cocaine Bear starring Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr, and Ray Liotta, among others.

During his February 2023 interview with Script Magazine, Samara Weaving’s husband revealed he began his career in Hollywood as a personal assistant to filmmaking duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on their 2012 buddy cop action movie 21 Jump Street. A decade later, they produced Cocaine Bear.

“I did a couple of movies as a P.A. and realized it wasn't necessarily my thing. Then I got a job in the mailroom at a talent agency and made some friends there. I changed jobs and started working for a director for five years. I was writing and doing assistant work for this director while I was starting to get some momentum in my career. Eventually, I couldn't do both and quit my job. I went headfirst into the writing,” Warden explained.

He also mentioned starting with 60-page short films before moving on to write long feature films. When asked what exactly he enjoyed about writing, Jimmy explained:

“I enjoy having an idea, sitting down, and making it a tangible story. If you have the focus, you can have a screenplay in however many days. Anyone can do it. That is yours and only yours.”

Samara Weaving’s latest film, Carolina Caroline, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The romantic crime thriller is directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier.

It remains undisclosed when Weaving is due to give birth.
