Who is Sofia Carson’s favorite director? The actress opens up in Glamour México interview

Sofia Carson would love to work with director Baz Luhrmann. The actress has been featured on the Glamour Magazine 25th anniversary cover. During the interview with the outlet, Carson was asked about her favorite artist or director she wants to work with. Answering the question, she said:

"Many! But one of my dreams would be to work with Baz Luhrmann. Moulin Rouge is my favorite film; it completely transports me to the universe of music and cinema he brilliantly created. As an actress and singer, it would be a dream to be part of that world."

Sofia Carson has previously worked with some of the biggest film directors, like Iain Morris in My Oxford Year, Adam Brooks on The Life List, and Jaume Collet-Serra on Carry-On. She has also worked with Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum on Purple Hearts.

In her upcoming project titled Last Night at the Lobster, she will be working with director Wagner Moura.

Sofia Carson thanks her grandmother for believing in her

Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char has been active in the industry since 2012. She is the daughter of José F. Daccarett and Laura Char Carson.

During the interview, the actress thanked her grandmother, Lauraine Carson, for believing in her and her dreams. The actress also revealed that she took her last name as a:

"A tribute to her strength"

Admiring her grandmother, she said:

"She represented love and strength in all its dimensions. She always believed in me. My grandfather used to say that Carson women were the strongest in the world."

Carson has made her name in the entertainment and music industry through her talent. Back in 2014, she appeared on the TV series Austin & Ally, where she played the role of Chelsea. Soon after, she was cast in the Descendants movie series, through which she gained major recognition.

Sharing her emotions, she wrote on an Instagram post uploaded in July 2025:

"10 years ago, I saw my name on a movie screen for the very first time. Evie was my dream come true 💙 She opened the door of my first movie set. . . Into a world of wonder, of magic, of music, of friendship, of love."

She continued:

"Guided by our dearest Kenny, four hearts held hands and began a journey that would change the rest of our lives, as we brought to life a story that, little did we know, would go down in the heart of history."
