Sofia Vergara was married twice, first to Joe Gonzalez and later to actor Joe Manganiello.

Her recent comments on the Today Show have gone viral. She opined that dating someone who does not make as much money as she does could be a tricky proposition. She said:

"I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it's a nightmare. They end up resenting you. And I want somebody fun. I need fun in my life."

Sofia Vergara appeared on the Today Show, hosted by Jenna Bush Hager and Erin Andrews, along with Mel B. During their appearance, they spoke about several topics, from their friendship to their dating lives, and later played a game of charades with the hosts.

More about Sofia Vergara's husbands

Sofia Vergara married Joe Gonzalez in 1991. The couple, who had originally met in high school, were married for three years until their divorce in 1993. They had one child, a son, Malano Gonzalez Ripoli-Vergara, who was born in 1992.

In a 2011 interview with Parade, the "Modern Family" actress said that the former couple maintained a close relationship with each other. She said:

"We're still close friends. When José comes to the United States, he stays with me."

In her appearance on the Today Show earlier this month, Sofia Vergara talked about how basic things like love are essential in a relationship:

"I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me.

Sofia Vergara married her second husband, actor Joe Manganiello, in December 2015. According to People Magazine, the couple had previously met in 2014 during the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, and by the end of the year, they were engaged. In a 2015 interview with Haute Living, the "Nonnas" actor reflected on the couple's early months together. He said:

"Our first date was in June, and then I proposed to her on Christmas Eve; [we dated for] about six months. When you know, you know, and we knew right away — like, very quickly."

In March 2023, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello attended the Vanity Oscar Party, which would become their last red carpet appearance as a couple. Four months later, Joe Manganiello filed for divorce, after seven years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple later released a joint statement obtained by People Magazine, where they announced their separation. They said:

"As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."

In a 2024 interview with El París, Sofia Vergara opened up about the reason her marriage to Manganiello ended, citing that he wanted children, while she did not. She said:

"My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore."

Later in 2024, the couple finalized their divorce. According to People Magazine, the couple decided to divide their individual assets, with both waiving the right to spousal support.
