French actor Tchéky Karyo, known for his roles in films such as La Femme Nikita, Addicted to Love, and Bad Boys, passed away at the age of 72 on October 31, 2025. He had been fighting cancer.

His wife, Valérie, is a French actress known for her roles in television and theatre. They married in 2002 and had two children together, a daughter named Louise and a son named Liv.

She announced her husband's death in a statement where she and their children expressed their sadness and paid tribute to his career in cinema and television.

Tchéky Karyo’s role as French detective Julien Baptiste in The Missing earned him fame in the film industry. He also appeared in And the Band Played On and the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. He was also a musician and songwriter who released a few albums.

All we know about Tchéky Karyo’s family life

The family life of Tchéky Karyo has garnered increased attention following his recent death. He was married twice in his life.

His first wife was Isabelle Pasco, who is a French actress and model. She was born in Perpignan, France and began her professional career as a model. She worked with renowned photographers including Paolo Roversi, David LaChapelle, Helmut Newton, Antony Armstrong-Jones, Peter Lindberg, and Bettina Rheims.

Pasco later started working as an actress in her native country. She portrayed the character of Sissi in the French film Outside the Law, helmed by Robin Davis.

She also starred in Undine, La Lectrice, Prospero’s Books, Charlemagne and Savage Nights. Pasco was also a part of Jean-Jacques Beineix's production of Roselyne et les lions.

She walked down the aisle with Tchéky Karyo in December 1995. After remaining married for a brief period, they divorced a year later. They didn’t share any kids.

After his divorce from the French actress, Karyo married Valérie. They remained married until his death. The couple welcomed two children. However, not much is known about their lives.

Keruzoré is the daughter of former footballer Raymond Keruzoré.. She is known for her work in film, television, and theatre. After beginning her acting career in 1988, she went on to appear on television.

She is notably recognized for her role as Nessa in the French television series Kaamelott. No Limit, The Adversary, and Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé are some of her other work projects.

Born as Baruh Djaki Karyo, Tchéky Karyo was born in Istanbul, Turkey and was raised in Paris, France. He was of Turkish Sephardic Jewish and Greek Jewish heritage. He had Spanish roots. He was the son of a Turkish lorry driver of Spanish and Jewish origin. His mother was Greek.

During an interview with Hello! Magazine, Karyo spoke about becoming a fan favourite after portraying Julien Baptiste in the British TV series The Missing. He said:

"We know that through love and through empathy, you get the best out of people, and hate is the worst, the worst. So it takes time maybe for some to understand it."

He began his acting career on stage in classical and contemporary plays. He later transitioned to film work in the 1980s. He was reportedly nominated for a César Award for Most Promising Actor for his role in La Balance.
